Description

1348. Everything in the world is about sex, except sex. Sex is about God. And God's angry. The Black Death's on a rampage. Graveyard orgies are in style. With brothels blamed, prostitute Jules has a shot at swapping sin for salvation, walled into a living grave as God's eternal bride. But nuns just want to have fun. Following a 'phenomenal performance' in her recent sell-out tour described as 'theatrical gold' (LondonGrip.co.uk), Tanwen Stokes' writing debut is a subversive spectacle inspired by the women who were hot for Jesus. Think Carry-On-cum-Monty Python-cum-Sister Act-Cum Sancto Spiritu in gloria Dei Patris, Amen.

An absolute laugh riot. Tanwen has such a great command of her space which draws the audiences in. Jokes are flying, innuendoes are landing and the story is captivating. All based on real events and real people, you’ll leave not knowing if you want to laugh or cry. A masterpiece. Go see it before it’s too late!

Some times there are shows tucked away in small venues at 10:50 in the morning that struggle to contain the sheer power and talent of the actor. The script for Jewels is moving, funny and bang on trend, the location is atmospheric, and the performance is skilful and powerful. If you need to bunk of work, do it, whatever you need to do, go see it.
