Journeyman is a tremendous hour of comedy that I'd encourage everyone to see.

James takes the audience on a candid walk through his previous work experience making sure to address every low and high point along the way.

Bewildering, witty, poignant at times but above all funny you'll be hard pressed to not enjoy the storyteller in front of you.

Apart from being a great comedian, James is clearly a captivating entertainer who deserves to continue his rise in prominence.

Couldn't recommend it enough.

I had no idea about James' history in global media and sports until I saw this show! He is a warm and humble guy despite his many achievements over less than half a century of life, and his energy is reason enough to go to this show. I definitely recommend it.
James, you looked like Rock Hudson in the 2000s.

Superb! Content, timing, all on point.
Hugely relatable, yet anyone from outside Scotland is still guaranteed a laugh. Would happily have listened to him for hours!

Really funny show that I saw on a whim. James brings you along with the story, gives you some surprises and a bit of heart. Throughly recommend.

Great show, will certainly be going to see James again in the future. What a life. What a journey. And thanks for not ribbing me too bad when I completely misheard you ask "Who is under 25" and my deaf old ears heard "over" (the irony of which is definitely not lost on me). Now who wants an Air Fryer?

I first heard about James through my wife showing me some of his videos as she followed his social media. As soon as we heard about a show he was doing in Glasgow we got tickets, and because that was so good made sure to fit him into our Edinburgh schedule.

What an absolute legend he is - I laughed so much, and the stories he tells about his past careers are as interesting as they are funny. He is warm and engaging with brilliant timing and banter.

Tickets are very limited so book early and catch him while you can!

I started following James on Instagram last year, his observations on things always made me laugh.so when the chance came to go see his show I was more happy to get a ticket.

This show was a lot more than I expected.. it was laugh out loud funny, it was personal and also a bit emtional.

He really does take you through a journey and a lot of people going to see it will related to bits. he made the show personal and was so open and honest, you could tell it was not false.

I would highly recommend if you get a chance to see james do it, also follow him on all the social media platforms because his videos cheer you up.

I followed James on social media for a long time and was really excited to see his show. I was a bit worried that he might not be as good in person, off the cuff, but I was wrong.

I took a friend who had never seen any of his content before on the basis that I recommended him and she was blown away as well. His humour is natural, witty and sharp. We were fully engaged the whole time, his stories of the various jobs he had over the years are really quite remarkable. You couldn’t make it up. I don’t know how this guy isn’t running the country, with his two degrees and so many talents! Really hope he keeps going with comedy though so I can hopefully see him again in the future.

Great show, really funny. I originally found James’ comedy through Instagram and then friends had seen this show earlier in the fringe and said we should go see it and it was a great recommendation!

Attending James’ show ‘Journeyman’ at the Edinburgh Fringe this year was like being on a rollercoaster ride through a series of careers you’d hardly believe were all held by one person. From his start as a sought after nightclub DJ in Glasgow—complete with a tale of the club’s unfortunate demise by fire (nothing to do with him I may add lol)—to stints as a TV presenter on the shopping channels, to a football TV producer for Satanta, then to a professional footballer in the Philippines (yes this is all true), and even a double glazing salesman, his life has been nothing short of extraordinary.

What made this show truly special, (similar to his last show, ‘Born in a Wheelchair’, where he took us on a journey discussing disability, more so in relation to his brother Alexander) is James’ ability to balance moments of laughter and humour with moments of genuine vulnerability, urging us all to reflect. Yet, as much as we were laughing, there was a palpable undercurrent of honesty as he shared his personal battle with mental illness when he felt lost and unsure who he was and where his life was heading. It was refreshing to see a comedian who wasn’t afraid to reveal the ‘darker sides’ of life, and these moments of openness made the show not just funny, but deeply human.

In a short space of time James,
‘The Journey Man’, took us on a wild, entertaining adventure through his many lives, reminding us that behind every joke there’s often a story of resilience. I am now a James Gardiner fan…. and I can’t recommend this show enough! FIVE STARS from me ⭐️ ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

I was recommended to follow James by an ex bf. Tbf most of his recommendations were pish so I thought this would be too. But I found a tenner in Dundee Seagate on Sunday and figured I’d spend it on James’ show.

Pleasantly surprised is an understatement. James is open, observational and provides comedy on a personal/vulnerable level (the best and most relatable imo). I laughed a countless number of times in 60 mins.

(Tbf I knew he’s be good but as some of the staff assumed I was a comedian too, I figured I’d bring some banter to this review.

This was a delight - such an original mix of storytelling, biography, and comedy, with lots of twists, turns, and callbacks. I knew James' hilarious social media clips but this was another level. Highly recommend.

True to the description- a journey through the career (and life experience of James), a great mix of storytelling and comedy which makes for a very enjoyable, thought provoking, comical and entertaining 60-minutes. The journey is nuanced with deeper narratives but is well balanced with humour, there’s something for everyone. This comedian is going from strength to strength, a must see at the fringe!

Came as a recommendation from a pal of mine from Glasgow. I'm not Scottish myself, so when I noticed how especially local the audience was, started to think most of the show was going to go over my head. Not so! Funny, well told, interactive, self-aware. Didn't feel like I needed to grow up in Glasgow to get in on the laughs.
