Description

Isobel and her guitar ask modern life's essential questions: Is there ever a right time to have a baby? Are you your therapist's favourite client? Are polyamorous relationships as rad as moving into your mum's house (with your boyfriend)? Witty, warm, inventive – and very funny. 'Highly original. Rogers is a special talent' ***** (LondonTheatre.co.uk). 'A captivating ream of song-lyrics and storytelling' ***** (Hive). 'Ultra-witty, pin-sharp pithy songs... Get in quick, get in now, before she has lift off' (EdFestMag.com). 'One of the most incredible artists we've worked with' (The Roundhouse).

Thoughtful and fun, multitalented Isobel commands our attention with her sparkle and wit. I loved the real issues brought to life and song. Totally one of the gems of our fringe experience.

Isobel is charming, funny, and honestly endearing with her oblique take on contemporary tropes - wedmin, living with mum, and her boyfriend suggesting polyamory.

Her Hamletian soliloquy - “to baby or not to baby” - is surprisingly moving.

A delightful early evening show for everyone- highly recommended.

Marvellous stuff. Stand up, but with rhymes and a musical accompaniment. Sharply observant and beautifully delivered.
Definitely one to watch.

Joyful: exceptionally well written series of comic self reflections. A set of narrative songs that were closer to stand up story telling than comic songs. Reflections on 20/30s life dilemmas and gentle narcissism but with a freshness and subtlety that is rare. Just what you hope to find at the fringe - top quality- have seen a lot of fringe performers over the years and she was really special.

Is this the UK's answer to Catherine Cohen!? ★★★★★

Oh what a joy of a show - a perceptive, hilarious and astute take on the social hurdles we all face in the modern world. Slick writing, but also a consummate musician, Isobel Rogers is a star in the making. Her inner monologues and intrusive thoughts are strangely familiar, painfully honest and at times poignant, but always witty and scintillating.

I went on a recommendation from a friend, but I will return as a fan, this is what Edinburgh Fringe is all about!

Bravo

Isobel Rogers’ question of how we can be content in an ever-changing online world is never solved. There is no simple answer. But this in itself is something audience members can resonate with even more, all done through clever comedic song.

Isobel Rogers a super accomplished songwriter, a sharp lyricist and has written a bonkers amount of scarily perceptive songs about modern life as people of our general age.
