Description
Music is the key element that triggers Julian's memories in The Imitator. The songs that were once important in his life set him off on a journey back to his childhood in South America where he discovers his passion for music and his gift for imitating voices. From there, he faces struggles in New York and Europe as he pursues his dream of becoming an artist. Singer/actor Julian Fontalvo portrays different characters that play a part in his story and imitates 70 artists such as Sting, Bob Marley, David Bowie, Amy Winehouse and Tina Turner among others. Please note that while all media gallery content is provided by verified members of the event, the Edinburgh Festival Fringe Society does not review or approve this content before it is posted. We saw the Imitator last night. Brilliant performance. What a voice he has. And he can dance as well. A pity tonight is the last night. Hope he returns to Edinburgh. We would definitely go again.

If you love popular (and by that I mean all genres of mainstream music over the last 20-30 years), then go see this show. It's fantastic, I didn't stop smiling and laughing and being wowed for the whole hour. Never seen anything like it. And those Latino dance moves.... terrific!

Superb energy , wonderful story and a strong clear voice. Impersonations did not always strike but so many did and as for one hour of escapism from your own world it is definitely worthwhile

I enjoyed this show. Some of the impressions/ imitations were not great (others were superb) but he put a lot into it and he seemed genuinely touched by the ovation at the end.

One of the best shows I've ever seen. A spur of the moment decision to go, but everyone at the fringe should go and see this - such an amazingly talented guy. Banging tunes in a show that literally made me cry with joy and had the audience on their feet at the end. Fantastic

A tremendous singer with a mind-boggling range, he is also a tremendous actor, slipping from despair to joy to whimsy with precision and taking the audience with him. Many were the gasps and giggles of delight when yet another well-known voice escaped from his lips,
Fontalvo is astonishing.

What an entertainer, from start to finish Julian was absolutely brilliant. It was possibly the best fringe show we’ve ever been to. His range of voices is truly incredible, a great way to spend early Saturday evening.
