Description

Our tale tells the (mostly) true story of the campest celebrity trial in history: Gwyneth vs Terry. Packed full of iconic moments, the questions about Taylor Swift, and the now famous whisper of 'I wish you well' – this is a fast-paced parody that sounds as good as Gwyneth's candle smells. Throw in some jade eggs and future classics such as 'Do You Know Taylor?' and 'I'm Gwynnocent', and you have yourself a hilarious musical bursting with heart. Ski you in court!

This show is a definite Westend transfer! That it isn't already is beyond belief. I don't have the words- Spectacular!

I’m not sure what everyone else saw in this. It’s full of dated humour (literal gags here from 2006) and jokes I felt I’d seen on TV a million times before. The music is fine, but the positive reception this has received has left me wondering: what is everyone else seeing?

Loved the premise of this one, but not quite as good as the other shows we've seen at the Fringe. The Chicago parody was great but the writing in general wasn't strong. Great cast though.

One of the standouts of the Fringe. It was a perfect girls night and we can’t recommend enough! 5 out of 5 stars!

What could have been hilariously camp felt forced; the niche pop culture references felt like a listed “what already exists, and is funny” crutch to write around - or crowbar in - and often evoked more cringe than laughter. The performances from the cast were great for the most part, especially from Idriss Kargbo who held the audience in the palm of their hand with their captivating energy, and the vocals of the entire cast were fantastic, but often unfortunately inaudible, but i think this was more down to the sound levels rather than the performers annunciation.

It was a fun show for the most part, but was let down along the way by jarring moments which could have propelled the action, but instead dropped the flow.

My fav show of the Fringe. It’s insane that you get to see this for this price because this is easily worth 100 on Broadway. The caliber of the cast (their voices acting and dancing are INSANE: best of the best), the live band, the set, the book & lyrics… this show is incredible. DO NOT MISS IT!!

Absolutely Hilarious. Fantastic cast giving it their all.
One of my favourite shows this year

Great venue, great show and great cast. Thoroughly enjoyed this with excellent characterisation, some strong songs and fabulous voices. Diana Vickers was fabulous as ‘Gwynnie P’ (what a voice!) and the other 3 cast members were equally impressive. Would highly recommend. Only criticism would be that this is advertised as 12+ so we took our 12 year old but it is definitely aimed at an older audience given the adult themes and language.

First show we saw at the fringe this year and it was so much fun! High energy, high camp, has every meme reference from the last 15 years. Absolutely brilliant!

Absolutely hilarious! One of the best things we’ve seen this year. Brilliantly performed. Must see

Excellent fun and a very talented crew! Well worth a watch, especially if you can pick up on the many excellent references hidden within!

Really fun show to end our fringe day.
Blown away by the acting skills.
Extremely polished and very enjoyable.

Wonderful performers and good concept. I think the pacing could be faster (especially because sometimes the script and lyrics said nearly the same words). Either change the book or the lyrics in the first verses so it's not redundant,

This show has fun, catchy songs and great performances, but relies very heavily on niche references and could use better storytelling.

Thought this was very polished and well done. The riff on Chicago was hilarious. Definitely enjoyed.

Best show I’ve see this year. Great writing and great performances. Very funny with great songs! Must see!

Tyler 18 days ago

Go in expecting a lot of pandering. The show runs too long, the story is thin, and the humor isn't interesting or new, just repetitions of trite jokes seen on social media. The performers are good, but that doesn't make up for the material.

Amazing cast - enjoyed every second of it.

I had the time of my LIFE in this giant purple cow. Danced my way up the aisle at the end. Go see this, you’ll love it

We went on preview night before Fringe and had an unbelievable time. The cast is so talented and, even though I’m not the target demo, it was incredibly funny and well done. Go see it!

I think I might have to change my name to 'Julia Fangirlin' because I have never felt more of a need to shout about a show as I do about this one.

After a very Sliding Doors moment of my dad almost booking the other Gwenny P musical (who'd have thought there would be two!) we took our seats in the infamous big purple cow and waited to see how this already ridiculous trial could be made even more so.

From start to finish this show hits you in the face with quick wit, slick choreography, hilarious characterization and lyrics, topped off by four voices more perfectly powerful than Gwyneth's performance in Shakespeare in Love.
(As I write, I'm still humming 'Do You Know Taylor' and not-so-secretly hoping that the whole soundtrack is released at some point).

Everything about I Wish You Were is masterful, the nods to 'the world tour', Baby Reindeer and a cheeky acknowledgement that it is no longer the only show at the Fringe about the trial are genius as well as self aware.

In a moment in time where the world is, let's be honest, pretty dark, this musical offers an hour of pure sparkling unadulterated joy. It's camp, clever and utterly gorgeous. An absolute must-see!

Right, I'm now off to purchase a jade egg and some Jeffrey Dahmer glasses.
