Description

I Sell Windows is one Black woman's exploration of what is birthed at the collision of grief, ambition and sex. After bailing on a trip home, former actor Kacie is confronted with the unexpected death of a loved one – propelling her into an existential voyage back to her tried and true trade of selling windows. As the days leading up to the funeral become fewer and fewer, she grapples with questions of identity, purpose and forgiveness, ultimately asking herself what she can, or even deserves to, become.

Where do I begin? The writing. Wow. The cards you find on your seat upon arrival, so powerful. so profound. The words land softly into your ears but powerful into your heart. Kaci seamlessly transitions between characters with clear authority. One of the best English Accent's i've heard from an American Actor too. The puppetry gives a different dynamic and was lovely to experience coupled with a great performance. Definitely recommend. Be prepared for laughs, reflection, and real emotion. In a fringe oversaturated with comedy, it felt good to attend a show and FEEL my emotions. Great directing, sound and lighting too!

Impeccable acting and brilliant storytelling! There is a unique and intriguing rhythm of the play, accompanied by the ingenuity of shadow puppets. I enjoy how Kacie switches in and out of the narratives in instant beats, bringing the audience onto an emotional rollercoaster woven together by her past, her realities and her dreams. Best one-person Fringe show I’ve seen!

A beautifully woven story investigating the impacts of grief and going after what you want. The stunning puppetry, design, and directorial work enhanced the story and partnered seamlessly with Kacie Roger’s acting chops and heart. I highly recommend this hour of lovely theatre.

Kacie’s performance was captivating. You enter her world and her achievements and disappointments. It has the authenticity of real life and makes you think about your own life choices. It cleverly interplays her interior dialogue with the sales patter of her day job selling windows. Go see this show!

I really enjoyed this well-written, personal play. It's a great showcase for a very talented actress. She owns the stage.

I did not know what to expect coming into the show, only knowing there was shadow puppets and something about the sale of windows. This story was poignant on so many levels with humor and rawness that gave me chills down my spine. Kacie is incredible. She never missed a beat and gave such a wonderful performance. Perry and Brittaney’s puppetry was effective and seamless, which elevated the story highly. Jaquita’s directional vision is everything. This show is life changing, and everyone should go see it.

I have to admit ... I came to this show having a really awful day. But the show I Sell Windows turned it around. It had just the right amount of effective humor, and in places where I didn't expect it. Don't get me wrong, it's heart-wrenching in places too, especially when she uncovers truths about her family and herself in real time. It all works well as a whole, and I was rooting for the main character in the end despite her flaws. It was emphatically human. Production was good too - I liked the overhead projector.

The story itself will be relatable to many actors, but also anyone who has felt like pursuing their passions comes with an unfair cost, who see their dream within reach and are longing for assurance.
