We chose to see this show over others at the same time as we heard it was popular. We love musicals and seeing talent. Unfortunately, we didn’t enjoy the show and wish we had gone for something else. It was far too long and the pre-recorded singing really topped it off for us, combined with the huge audience participation element (rather than paying other actors to play roles in the show). There is clearly a target market for this but it was not us.

Really funny show, it’s worth to know a little bit of the story to understand some jokes but even if you don’t know what happened it’s a well spent time laughing on a show that knows exactly what it is.

Gwyneth Goes Skiing is everything I could have wanted in a late afternoon-early evening show. GGS is about the 2016 accident and the following 2023 court case. Gays, girls and Theys camp fun. (There were straight men in the audience too so open to all

It took me a while to get to see it because it was always getting sold out, and for a reason!
I enjoyed so much this show, which is based on a crazy idea just like the trial represented was.
So campy and fun, I loved it. Try to not miss it!

Got round to one of this companies shows… did not disappoint. Gooptastic from the choreography, humour, production and both outstanding comedic performances of Paltrow & what’s that guys name? Excellent audience participation but show is long. Certainly worth seeing.

Kevin Coughlin 37 days ago

after seeing Diana last year at the Fringe I was eager to see what they had in store with this show. Did not disappoint - was a fun romp thru the ridiculousness that is Paltrow - great performances and so happy I was able to catch this - a fun show!

Beautifully camp
Hilarious

Having read the audience reviews after seeing the show I’m a bit shocked. The show was brilliantly funny and shockingly close to Gwyneths character portrayed but the media.
Fantastic show with lots of silly laughs and audience cparticipation

Lady Gaga 38 days ago

This show was tooooo long. Repeating the jokes.

The Diana show is a masterpiece show and this is the follow up. Sadly, didn't enjoy.

I will read audience reviews closely from now on

Had the shorter been shorter, focused on the laughs it could be saved.

A very funny, fast paced show including audience participation and puppets. The musical numbers were fantastic and very catchy.
The lighting design was excellent and complex helping to create different atmospheres and bring the story to life on stage. The lighting during the musical numbers was particularly good with a real WOW factor.
I would highly recommend this show.

It is absolutely baffling to me that this is selling out at £17 a ticket. The script, such as it is, is lazy and repetitive. One of the performances is vastly superior to the other which, unfortunately, is dominant.

At one stage the action bafflingly moves into two seats in the audience for an extended period, which might be fine in a smaller space, but in Forth means 95% of the audience are craning their necks if they haven't yet completely tuned out.

It's a good 30 minutes longer than it should be, and even then it overran. Honestly, if your show is this bad and this long, you've got no right to get narky with people leaving before the end.

Technically very good and the puppet is funny.

Awkward productions - it really was. Audience participation was the only mildly amusing part but even that got tired. Spend your money on smaller better productions. What a waste of a venue.

Whilst this was an easy watch, with so much to see, I wouldn't say it's the best 1h20 you could spend at the fringe. A lot of the same joke, the runtime felt unnecessary and the musical numbers didn't really add anything since they were all lipsynced anyway. The funniest parts were the audience participation, but should we really be carrying the show we've paid to watch? I'll let you decide.

Caitlin KMP 43 days ago

Lazy and unfunny. I really wanted to love this show but it turned out to be so disappointing. It was the same 3 jokes (goop, sad man, apple) the whole show. Most of the jokes have been done a billion times before this production so it just seems like such a lazy (an, somehow, unoriginal) way to slap together a show based on a true life story with SO MUCH potential. The musical numbers are also generic and unoriginal.

Packed full of more references and silliness than you can shake a ski at! Linus and Joseph have crafted something so viscerally stupid in the best possible way - of course the lawyer is a puppet! Of course the deer is a cardboard cutout! Of course Apple Martin is an actual apple... duh!

The musical moments, audience participation and gleeful irreverence taps into a real sweet spot, uncovering childlike joy in adult audience members. Filled to the brim with a love for pop culture, this is a joyfully made comedy which is bound to charm and entertain. Embrace the absurdity and enjoy the ride down the slope!

Natalie 44 days ago

It was fine - definitely a bit long and some jokes fall flat. Not as good as their previous productions sadly! Maybe a miss.

Andrea 44 days ago

Waaaayyy to long but was really funny! Lots of great audience participation.

GOOPed by this amazing show. Funny, endearing, witty. Don't feel gwyuilty and book tickets! ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

Great premise for a Fringe play. Good use of audience participation although inspired casting of Gwyneth's daughter Apple by an actual apple.
Good fun.

Prepare to be gooped! Another hilarious show from Linus and Joseph. They know how to perfectly create something that is full to the brim with references that have you giggling to yourself even after you've left. Fantastic.

Graham Philpott 49 days ago

I’m gooped!
Both Joseph and Linus provide the audience with so many laughs and it all seems so easy for them. Joyous fun. Pop an egg up your vagina and grab yourself a ticket!

Delightfully fun show that refuses to take it self too seriously. Also, when will you get another opportunity to pelt an optician (sorry *optometrist*) with snowballs under the command of a squirrel?

Elgin Edison 51 days ago

Despite knowing nothing about this story, Awkward Productions have made a joyous, hilarious show that leaves you gwynning from ear to ear! The story was engaging, well told, amazing audience participation, fantastic music and lighting, and Trixie Mattel :)

Molly Greenwold 52 days ago

I was not a fan of this show. While I appreciated some of the humor, I found the lip syncing a little off putting and the show ended up dragging.

Laura May 52 days ago

This is a light-hearted show, that doesn’t take itself seriously and yet, it’s witty, charming and a wonderful breath of fresh air!

The audience participation can feel silly at times but I loved it! I was smiling from ear to ear every time the boyfriend turned husband took the stage. We need more shows like this, please!

Gwyneth Goes Skiing has been my guilty (yet family friendly) pleasure at this Fringe.

Helena Murphy 53 days ago

Such good fun - two excellent lead performances with enthusiastic support from the crowd. Good songs, fun content and I hadn't followed the trial too closely so will assume this is exactly what happened. Well done, would recommend!

LeeH 55 days ago

Don't Bother. Although I accept there can be humour in this style of "cheap thrown together" type of show... This is not well executed.
How this has a following is beyond me.
There is a gap 15 mins in where the action moves to the audience... It's your best opportunity to leave!

Left me both gooped AND gagged xoxo

Absolutely hilarious - great performances, very witty, laugh out loud dialogue and really, really good fun. .

An enjoyable hour especially if you have been following or curious about this incident. Nothing spectacular, but good entertainment. I would rate this 4/5.

With exemplary production values, potentially libelous tongue-in-cheek humour, a great cast, sharp writing and lots and lots of snowy frivolous fun, 'Gwyneth Goes Skiing' is a great pick for anyone looking to be transported to the slippery ski slopes of Utah this Edinburgh Festival Fringe.

As the hilariously delusional Gwyneth trills, ‘Every day is perfect when you’re Gwyneth Paltrow.’ It really is Gwyneth’s world. She’s the main character, and we’re all just living in it. And, I’d really encourage you to as well.

The jokes-per-minute count is so high throughout this show that you end up with comedic whiplash. The sight gags alone would have me rolling on the floor, but coupled with well-done performances and cameos from some of the internet’s favourite icons (you’re welcome, gays!) make for a thoroughly enjoyable 90 minutes.

The Quintessential Review (4/5 stars) 55 days ago

If there’s a Fringier show on offer this year I’ll be amazed. The effort put into staging the show is downright impressive. The chaos invited into proceedings is also impressive. Parodying the lives of the rich and bizarre isn’t new, but there’s a uniquely controlled insanity baked into the script.

Awkward Productions return to the Fringe after their hugely successful Diana The Untold and Untrue Story last year with Gwyneth Goes Skiing, and, as you might expect, it features snowstorms, snowballs, Alpine squirrels, rabbits and the legendary (well it is now) Deer of Deer Valley... and some very funny scenes
