Description

Lonely musical composer Randy Thatcher has finally found the confidence to share his magnum opus (to an imaginary audience in his bedroom). While performing his show about heartbreak, friendship and intergalactic warfare, Randy realises his life might not be so different from that of his show's protagonist, Gazandy. Written and performed by Matt Haughey, the singer-songwriter with 10+ million streams. Randy, on the other hand, has never had anyone listen to his music besides his Mom, but he's sure excited to give it a try! Directed by Travis Greisler.

Probably my FAVOURITE SHOW this fringe. Reminded me of Andrew Garfield in tik tik boom.
A very witty, beautiful and heartwarming performance and script. Show is about a struggling college artist writing the best musical ever written and not gaining recognition for his work. But this actor deserves every ounce of recognition he can get as it definitely one of the best things to watch at the fringe this year. Very funny and wonderful singing.
Side note: I loved this show because it reminded me why I love theatre, it has made me love the performing arts world all over again so thankyou xx

Went to this show not knowing too much about it and had a blast. Matt tells a beautiful story that provides some deep insight into college life in America. He is an accomplished composer and musician and sings with a genuine passion. He is able to connect with his audience and bring them into his story. I highly recommend this show.

This was such a sweet, thoughtful, and wholesome little gem of a show. I felt each moment. It’s beautifully directed, acted with heart, and delivered with moving passion and detail. The music is beautiful. Loved it!

An excellent 1 person musical. The show is really well performed with touching songs and a thoughtful storyline, our kids ages 12 and 14 really enjoyed this as did we.

I walked into this knowing nothing about it, not even that it was a one man show.

I found this show deeply moving, as an autistic actor and musician - I found a lot to connect with, and really enjoyed Matt’s performance. The writing is clever, the limited tech and staging are very well utilised and the songs are pretty.

I liked it so much I came a second time with a friend. I cried a lot.

We really enjoyed the show. The nuanced performance was backed up by a strong story line and great production values. Don't be put off by the title, the show is subtle, charming and really quite moving.

This was such a quietly beautiful show. Such a lovely story, and the original songs were incredible. What a voice too! It felt like we are seeing a sneak peak of the next great Broadway composer, definitely not a show to be missed!

Such a beautifully constructed and wonderfully sung show. Matt Haughey is a fantastic performer producing laughs and tears in equal measure. An uplifting experience - I loved it!

I've always thought musicals were over-the-top and silly. So to have a musical lean into those very traits and wrestle with them ... well, it works! The Greatest Musical, etc. is funny, well acted, brilliantly sung, and touching. It both satirizes and reveres the modern musical - not sure how it pulls off that hat trick, but it does! I'd definitely recommend this one.

The characterisation of Randy is as well detailed as the set and it is touching to see his confidence and enthusiasm come forward as the performance continues.
