Description
June 6 1944: over 25,000 troops land in Normandy for the largest amphibious invasion of all time. Their destination: codenamed Gold Beach. Their mission: to deliver a final blow to the Nazi stranglehold on Europe. But beyond the political rhetoric and military strategy are boatfuls of ordinary young men – farmers, clerks, students, entertainers – who find themselves catapulted to the forefront of history. Outstanding, moving and poignant. Simple premise, exquisitely written and superbly acted. I was an audience member and took flyers to give out afterwards - it was that good!

What an extraordinary play. Six young men on a boat on the way to D-Day. Six ordinary voices each with their hopes, dreams and fears laid bare as they travel to the fate we all know from the history books. Funny and heartbreaking in equal measure. A must see.
