Description

Based on a little-known Grimms' fairytale, Godfather Death is an award-winning and gleefully macabre new musical exploring mortality, healthcare and class. When, in desperation, a mother seeks a godfather for her 13th child, Death takes her boy under their wing and offers him a gift – the power to tell whether someone will live or die. Eager to keep those he loves alive but tempted by the accompanying fortune, we follow the boy’s encounters with the ill, the dying and death itself. Winner: OffFest Best Musical at Fringe 2023. ***** (BroadwayBaby.com). ***** (Everything-Theatre.co.uk). ***** (BingeFringe.com).

Saw this my last day at the Fringe. I had time for one more show and still 5 shows that had caught my eye, and I'm so very glad that I ended up going to see this one. A captivating and moving story with a lovely score from an excellent band and brilliant performances by the talented cast. If this is what they can achieve in such an intimate venue, I wonder what they could do with more. I'm hoping to find out in the future. In the meantime, do yourself a favour and go see this while you still can!

What an unbelievable show - hard to imagine they could improve on the amazing performances from last years Fringe run, but they have. The music, the cast, the script, just everything - you leave feeling completely elated and wanting more. An absolute must see show - go get your tickets while you can, you won’t be disappointed!

This is an absolute must-see on my list. It's irreverent yet poignant. It's both timeless and timely. The performances are simply superb. The music? Chef's kiss. One of the highlights of my Fringe experience.

Saw this as a fairly last minute decision and so glad we did! A super talented cast with a fabulous musical score which shows off their talents in a gripping, funny and captivating story of death ... and more death! We loved it - well done to all! :)

Thoroughly enjoyable tale, and the songs/singing were particularly good. Well worth a look!

Unfortunately hit by a power cut so I might never know how the show ends!
