Description

Charlotte. Emily. Anne. Bronte. What inspired three lonely, unworldly women from a remote Yorkshire village to become some of the most celebrated novelists of all time? This new work explores the early lives of the Bronte sisters, their vivid imaginary worlds and the tragic family events which shaped their young lives and later writing. Praise for writer and director Rebecca Vines’ Bronte biography More Myself Than I Am: 'A cut above' **** (TheWeeReview.co.uk). 'The kind of period drama you might expect from the BBC' **** (BroadwayBaby.com).

The Glasstown Conspiracy (****)
This appropriately young cast portrays the Bronte children as they each develop their own style of character for their literary creations. Each must deal with unruly characters the demand their author’s attention, with Charlotte at one point finding herself surrounded by a mob of her characters. I reveled in the unexpected quality of acting of the tween and younger cast.

This is the 39th most enjoyable of the 136 shows I have seen so far at the Fringe this year. I hope to see more than 150 this year. You may see my other three-sentence reviews, in order from most enjoyable to worst, at my non-commercial website: https://fringefan.com/

A heartwarming tale of the early lives of the Brontë siblings. This play brings to life the imaginary worlds of the siblings with talented performers providing insight into the harsh realities that inspired these children to become famous novelists. A joy to watch.
