Description
Newly-crowned First Queen of the Majapahit Kingdom, Princess Gitarja must ensure the growth and safety of her people and find freedom from her powerful mother Gayatri. This brand new Javanese traditional historical narrated opera is conceived by Indonesian artist Mhyajo and adapted from Mpu Prapanca’s manuscript Nagarakertagama. UNESCO designated the manuscript as the Memory of the World. This epic piece features music composed by Franki Raden, a professor in ethnomusicology. The trilogy’s first episode, Gayatri, earned the Highly Commended Shortlist of Finalist of Asian Arts Awards 2021 was a 2022 OnComm Finalist.Please note that while all media gallery content is provided by verified members of the event, the Edinburgh Festival Fringe Society does not review or approve this content before it is posted.
