Description

The Gardening Club is a new musical that takes place in 1960, Georgia, USA. Six girls start an illegal drug ring to distribute the birth control pill, using their gardening club as a cover-up. The musical is a taboo story about pleasure, self-discovery, shame, first times and even harder pills to swallow. With hilarious characters, crude innuendos and powerful female friendships, this catchy pop-rock soundtrack explores issues that are still relevant and will echo in the years to come, making The Gardening Club a timeless tale.

Our last show att the Fringe this year and what a way to remember Edinburgh 2024!! A very well written and directed show with outstanding performances from all the actors. Very appealing music and songs confidently and tunefully delivered. A real masterpiece.

Let me start by saying I LOVE musicals but I can be picky at what musicals take my fancy. The Gardening Club is undoubtedly a musical I do indeed love! Each and every performance from the cast is incredible and simply beautiful to watch. The vocal quality, the exceptionally established characters and the overall feel of the performance is just a joy to watch. The musical arrangement and overall composition is outstanding, with each vocal number bringing a unique and distinctive vibe compared to last. Overall this is a MUST SEE musical at the fringe, and I have no doubt I’ll be saying the same WHEN it hits the West End in the near future! If I could give it 6 stars I would! Well done cast and team!

This show was brilliant. The excellent and intelligent writing of the music was elevated by the amazing musical talent of the cast, Emma Wallace in particular showed her wonderful vocal range here. The plot of the show was excellent and the script was very funny without being too crude. The acting was great as well, everyone on stage seemed to have great chemistry which gave their performances a fun vibe. Overall i would highly recommend seeing this show and hope to see it again in full.

Timely and intelligent show that discusses women’s reproductive freedom at a time when it’s under attack in America! The topics of sex, pleasure, and friendship are handled with a hint of sarcasm, humor, and a lot of care. Well written, perfectly delivered by the six strong leads, and the music is super fun! Overall, I recommend it for all (not for kids probably).

A refreshing, witty, and sexy musical created for women by women—though I believe men enjoyed it just as much! Wright and McRitchie have crafted something special that I hope continues to develop. The catchy music and clever lyrics still linger in my head, and I’m loving it! Lind, Wallace, Dootson, Garlick, McRitchie, and Wright delivered outstanding performances as the six female leads, supported by the talented young men that add complexity to the plot (Belton, Paisley, and Moore). Though set in 1960s Georgia, the show's characters and stories resonated deeply with me - as I’m sure they did with everyone in the audience. Go see The Gardening Club at Venue 45; you'll thank me later!
