Description

Adapted from Lu Xun's novel, Forging the Swords tells the story of a naturally kind-hearted child, who is suddenly entrusted with the monumental task of avenging his father's murder. Two swords are wielded in the name of peace, yet result in further bloodshed. Incorporating elements from the ancient Chinese collection of supernatural tales the play poses thought-provoking philosophical questions of humankind. Where will our obsessions ultimately lead us? Is the culmination of revenge truly freedom, or is it an endless void?

Adapted from one of the greatest author of China, Lu Xun, this play is such an amazing show to view. Abundant with wonderful real Chinese kung fu parts and interactions, Forging the Swords made it to create an intense atmosphere dated back to ancient China dynasty with so many intelligent talents. A dreamy journey with adventure and love and perseverance.
It satisfied me with all cast's martial arts action with their fighting scenes. It amazed me with its brilliant adaption from the novel into an one hour short play with whole students cast.
Appreciate you all for bringing me a dream of wuxia and jianghu.
The script is well written and developed with good tunes. All the performers are so vividly played and guiding us into the world of swords and dream.

A wonderfully entertaining piece of theatre that combined well-choregraphed martial arts, paper mache puppetry and Nuo opera.
