Description

An exploration of gender dysphoria, bodily autonomy and celebrity crushes from a non-binary perspective. Frankie is on the District Line, drunk, with a pair of scissors in their coat pocket. Meanwhile, their past self is in a club struggling to find a hair tie, their future self is in therapy insisting they’re not insane and their imaginary self is having a passionate love affair with Andrew Garfield. As these four realities come together, Frankie learns who they are and who they want to be, and ultimately decides whether or not to put those scissors to good use.

This was an incredible watch! I felt so seen it was unreal, especially the discussion of a romantic fantasy as a way to show love to oneself, and just…everything about gender destroyed me and made me feel understood. I loved every second, I’ve never been to a show where I was so engaged by the performer and was thrilled I sat in the front row; it made it an incredible experience. Writing was superb, performing, and the use of lighting to indicate changes in scene and tone was amazing. I loved it so much and have been telling everyone I know how it was one of my top favourites of fringe.

I have NEVER felt so seen about my gender dysphoria in this way. Completely captivating storytelling with a brutally raw narrative, F*ckboy was moving in unexplainable ways. Thank you for this!

I’m so grateful this show exists. The four converging storylines are all distinct and brilliantly acted, and the structure it creates in the show really serves the what is already some of the best writing about gender dysphoria I’ve experienced. It put words to aspects of my experience as a nonbinary person that I have struggled to verbalize or even think through. Not to mention, what could have been a very confusing story structure is made clear and effective through lighting and the performance so that the whole thing just works. I could go on and on about the writing and the set and the lighting and the makeup and the costume and the performance for days—almost every single detail of the show seems to perfectly suit its cohesive, powerful experience—but the important thing is that you should just see it. It’s brilliant

This is a brilliant show, well thought out, paced and presented. The acting was superb, completely engaging and immersive. Although some scenes contained difficult themes, these were all handled with warmth, care and total openness. A show to make you think and afterwards to process. Brilliant job! (From the guy in the Iron Maiden jacket).

If you've ever felt like an outsider anywhere, especially your own body, you'll relate. If not forthat then come for the well done cut acting. Pun intended, enjoy the show.

An incredible story and beautifully told. This is a hidden gem of the Fringe for people who adore solo theatre. Perfectly timed, and well-pitched with great shifts in atmosphere, and some incredibly stellar acting from the central performer. It's a heartbreaking and relatable tale for people within the trans and gender non-conforming communities, but it's also a great insight into this world, its pain, joy, and psychology for those on the outside wanting to learn more. A superb work of theatre that I hope will go far, it certainly deserves to!

Beautifully performed with such warmth despite the challenging themes - you felt like you knew the character and quickly found yourself caring about what would happen. It’s a late start but worth staying out to see this.

I thoroughly enjoyed this show. It was engaging and thought-provoking throughout. Lots of food for thought and I have found myself thinking about it and the issues raised since. It was brilliant to experience issues from a very different perspective.

I'm so fortunate to have been able to watch your show, I resonated with it so much despite coming from the opposite end of the binary spectrum.
This show is absolutely amazing

A glitzy, club like show that captures the nuances of what it feels like to have a disconnect with your physical body and your gender. It’s funny, weird, moving and extremely well performed!

This show lays bare incredibly real emotions in this intense and intimate hour of inner monologue. I felt this show viscerally, hypnotised by Freddie's frenetic energy and enrapturing delivery.

Never was there a character on stage. There was a real person sharing a part of his soul. Beautifully performed, the lighting & sound switches were so on point! To finish, I should mention a topic that isn't mentioned much nowadays 'loving your madness/the Other Side of You'. I sat there, generally moved to the brink of tears. I haven't had a performance do that in years. A MUST SEE!
