Description

Going further afield, we have added some real treasures from Eastern Europe and Central America. You can hear fine early music from unfamiliar composers, women as well as men, and from our more usual repertoire. It is performed on our huge collection of period instruments: sackbuts, cornetts, serpent, shawms, curtals, bagpipes, recorders, gemshorns, viols, violins, rebecs, hurdy-gurdy, associated percussion and more, joined by singers. The band is entering its second half-century with just as much enthusiasm as ever: the show is fun, friendly, fascinating and free for children, who are very welcome.

The ERB was absolutely fantastic today - as usual!
It's a real treat to see and hear you all.
I absolutely love the instruments and the varied arrangements, the wonderful vocals, the huge range of mood from pensive and reflective to very jaunty indeed (loved the hats!) and the glorious melodies and harmonies from little known repertoire.
Thanks for a VERY enjoyable and uplifting concert! Just what we needed.
