Such a touching musical that makes you cry (and laugh) while addressing themes of identity and the real life housing situation in Hong Kong. The choreography was creative and clean, the tech (and subtitles) was so precise, and the cast was so captivating and professional while portraying such relatable characters.

100% worth watching, definitely a hidden gem and deserves all the recognition.

I thought I'd book at least one musical show at Fringe (seeing as most of the other shows I've seen have been theatre plays), and I was pleasantly surprised by the production quality of "Draft my life". The choreography was seamless and the uses of the space and chairs were incredibly impressive. The actors sang and performed so expressively and I thought I would perhaps struggle to follow the English subtitles since I don't speak Cantonese, however this was not the case at all! The theme of growing up and moving out is universal, and it really hit close to home for me, so I would 100% recommend this show.

An exceptionally fresh and captivating Cantonese musical that took me by surprise with its brilliance. The songs are both charming and deeply touching, leaving a lasting impression. Draft My Life stood out as the highlight of my entire three-day Fringe experience. This show is an absolute must-see and a true gem—don’t miss it!

Also - we NEED a recording of the songs somewhere!!

connecting cultures and audiences through the one gut wrenching feeling and life thing we all have to do at some point but it doesn’t always come easy, but this helped make it a little bit easier! This follows Clara who is a furniture store employee who helps others furnish their home but wrestles with the idea on how to create a home of her own. An original musical by a group of Hong Kong young artists explore what it means to have a home. And my gosh it’s beautiful. Captivating from the first second as they delve into the journey of finding self-independence, inner peace and all that comes with leaving the home comforts, at home… but learning to be able to call a new place home, while still being connected in the process. This is something I’m going through at this very minute and have been searching out something to be able to confide in and coming across this beautiful and incredibly well staged and designed show was just what I needed. I went into the theatre with a clouded head, and left almost wishing I had something to worry about. Through journeying through this process with Clara you realise these things aren’t meant to be easy but it’s a crucial thing we need to do, and it’s not the things around you that make a home. It’s the people… and you have them no matter where you are.

I cannot speak enough on how this musical has gone under noticed this fringe. With a beautiful arrangement of numbers all performed in cantonese, paired with subtitles allowing English speaking people to also get to experience this heartfelt and thought-provoking piece of artwork and being only £10 I beg you take 50 minutes out of your day to give this show a chance, and support these super talented and awesome performers welcome you in and let you feel like part of the journey.

I will be back, and I cannot say enough how you should experience it.

I saw the show two days ago and finally I managed to write a review. Sadly there were only few people in the audience, probably because many others have been put off by the unconvenient timeslot (in the second week the time will be more convenient) and the fact that the play is performed in Chinese. But the precisely timed subtitles, the straightforward story and the convincing acting make it possible to get into what's happening on stage quite easily. The problems arising when young people decide to move out of their childhood's homes to become independent are universally understood.
The music is well written and performed, but don't expect opulent choruses or highly polished solos. The music perfectly blends in with the different emotions that are conveyed in the play. That gives it the charm of an unpolished gemstone.
Go and see for yourself. This young company and their work deserve much more attention than they received until now.
