Gloriously odd and experimental, the show takes audiences on a musical journey through some of Waits's seminal works, whilst Brake expounds on just how much a drag king from South Wales might have in common with the California-born performer. Even if you've never heard of Tom Waits I would highly recommend this. It's a great singer, singing great songs, in a fun and interactive way.

Highly recommend.

Excellent atmospheric Tom Waits hour in an intimate venue with engaging audience musical participation. Perhaps just one cover version rather than three would have allowed more time for some of the maestro’s masterpieces like In the Neighbourhood. But in response to the wonderful What’s He Doing in There? The answer can only be: Very well.

I loved this show. Intimate, effortless (or at least appeared to be!) and so much fun. Mr Brake Down's vocals are astounding and his rendition of "Grapefruit Moon" was beautiful and made me well up. The show is also incredibly funny and you do not have to be a Tom Waits fan to enjoy it, but to say he does the songs justice is a HUGE understatement. GO AND SEE THIS WONDERFUL SHOW!

Mr Brake Down’s tribute to Tom Waits is impeccable. This is an hour full of love, honestly and incredible talent, and his ability to work a room is just phenomenal. I hope Mr Brake Down takes this around the world, everybody needs to experience this beautiful show. Absolutely one of the best things I’ve seen at the Edinburgh Fringe. Please please go and see this. Your life will be better for it.

Effortlessly cool. Perfectly pitched. A fantastic voice. Charming, moving, relaxed and beautifully bluesy. Be sure to catch this for it's final few nights. The cover of girls just wanna have fun honestly made me well up!

I’ve been listening to Tom Waits for 40 years and Mr Brake Downs performance is a wonderful experience!! My 28 year old son also loves Tom Waits and was appointed head of percussion for the evening by Brake - what a laugh!! Everyone in the audience had a musical instrument which added to the real Tom Waits experience! This event is great fun - whether you know Tom Waits music or have never heard of him. You gotta go!

Wow wow wow! I wasn’t overly familiar with Tom Waits when I went in but this show was brilliant! Mr Brake Down was charismatic, funny, quick witted and very very talented!! So engaging and the music was just great, a wonderful way to spend an hour and I would recommend anyone to go even if you don’t know Tom Waits, this show is definitely worth seeing!! :)

One of the best things I’ve seen this year at The Fringe. I’m not very familiar with Tom Wait’s music but now I’m a fan. Go see this cabaret! I could have drank whiskey, smoked cigarettes and listened to Mr Brake Down’s singing and brilliant comedic banter all night. 1 hour was not long enough. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Absolutely mesmerising and wonderful. As a lifelong fan of Tom Waits, this was the closest to seeing him live I could imagine. Mr Brake Down truly channelled the spirit of Tom and did such credit to his music, his poetry, his persona, his wry warmth. I could have watched two more hours of this show. Even if you've never heard of Tom Waits before, do yourself a favour and relish this hour of cabaret gold.

Just came out of this show and ... Wow. Simply wow. Highlight of my Fringe thus far! A beautiful tribute to Tom Waits, capturing the alt-operatic modulations and mood-scenes which characterise the great songwriter. A pleasure to witness, a brilliant hour of music, sizzling patter and smile-inducing whimsy. Just brilliant.

I didn’t know how much I needed Tom Waits’ version of Girls Just Wanna Have Fun but I’m so glad I got to experience it! Like many have already mentioned you don’t need to know much about Waits to enjoy this intimate and engaging performance. I highly recommend!!!

This is show is so much more than a Tom Waits tribute act. It's a full-blown character piece and interactive cabaret experience. Mr Brake Down brings theatrical hilarity to numbers like 'The Piano has been Drinking' and 'What's he Building in There?' while his somber songs like 'Grapefruit Moon' and 'Christmas Card from a Hooker in Minneapolis' are more emotive confessional storytellings. In the intimate venue, everyone in the crowd feels immersed and included, as we experience both the music and the man in all his grizzly whiskey-soaked glory. A perfect introduction for Tom Waits novices and for diehard fans like me it's a showcase to relish.

Just fantastic. I had no information about Tom Waits but I became a big fan of him. I would love to see his show every year. Bluesy, whiskeysh, dreamy. Great music and joyful moments of participating.

My good friend Mr Brake Down puts on a brilliant, fun and immersive show, filled with Tom Waits classics and also a few great surprises! As a drummer I loved playing along to several of the songs on a percussion instrument that Mr B gives out for the audience to use. Whatever you do at this year's Fringe, make sure to check out "Doom And Glitter" for a fun night. Whether you're a Tom Waits fan or not, this is a must-see and also a must-hear! Believe me, Mr Brake Down rocks!

Loved it!

Perfectly captures the full spectrum of Tom Waits; from the whisky & cigarette stained bar hopper to the playful doom chaos seer of later years.

But you don't need to be a fan of Waits to enjoy the show, it's a lovely introduction to the world of the songsmith but ticks all the boxes for a joyful and inclusive cabaret experience.

Fully intend on going again.

Went to see 'Doom & Glitter' with a friend last night and it was absolutely brilliant!!
Whether you're a lifelong fan of Tom Waits or have never heard of him until this show, you'll love this hour of music, boozey wit, and fun.

Mr. Brake Down gives such an empassioned and beautiful performance that you can't help but be swept away by the soulfully sung songs and happy chaos as your fellow audience members keep imperfect time on distributed musical instruments.

Mr. Brake Down's love and respect for Tom Waits shines through his performance and it was genuinely moving to hear his personal connection to Mr. Waits and the impact his music has had on his life.

It's the perfect combination of personal journey, impersonation, and music that will leave you grinning from ear-to-ear. Absolutely loved it and 100% recommend. Go see this show!!

An intimate, bluesy, whisky infused affair. Tom Waits would be proud. You can enjoy this show even if you don't know who Tom is. If you love music, I highly recommend it!

Doom and Glitter takes you to a ride that leaves you entertained and wanting more. The interactive element makes you feel more connected to the event too.

Definitely a gem for the fringe season!

A superb show! I didn't know who Tom Waits was when I watched this show, but I've become a fan now! Brake has an effortless stage presence that makes him a joy to watch. The show is a loving tribute to Tom Waits mixed with some surprises. Mr Brake Down's creativity and imagination shine throughout. You don't want to miss it.

A fantastic show. The energy and attitude of Tom is right there from the start, and never dwindles. With some excellent songs and some surprises, the show really comes into its own when Mr Brake Down starts interacting with the crowd. With a natural charisma, he keeps the audience eating out of the palm of his hand, and brings some wonderful personality and comedy to a fabulous evenings entertainment. Boozy, bluesy and brilliant!

This is a show that just keeps getting better and better every time I see it.

Mr Brake Down embodies - and imbibes - the spirit of Tom Waits perfectly, drawing the audience fully into his world.

He has the magical ability to turn any venue into a late night backstreet speakeasy with just a tip of his hat...so prepare to get your rhythm going, and enjoy the banter!

Doom and Glitter is a dazzling hour of joy, and you'll be left demanding an encore.

An excellent tribute that captures the spirit of Tom Waits and mixes it with Mr Brake Downs well established stage charisma to make for a hugely entertaining show

Mr Brake Down exudes warmth in his remarkably engaging show. I wasn't a Tom Waites fan, but he has changed my mind with a performance full of wry wit and dry humour.
Mr Down is going places, so catch this show while you can.
