If it's a time-travelling car you want to take you back to the 1980s, then this is, in my book, a better alternative. Torrey Shine is a cunning weaver of story and music cramming in 250 references to 1980s classic songs. Delivered with drama and real raw emotion, the audience really feels each tug at the heartstrings as every song imaginable from the 1980s comes flooding back 35 years after the decade ended. You can tell Torrey loves every moment as the references don't stop coming. It may remind some of you about what songs you had your first kiss to in those days. It may remind you of long-forgotten parties reawakened and brought back to life. It may reignite a desire to watch an old film for the first time in years. This show can only have a positive effect on the audience. Enjoy the journey.

Sometimes I pick my shows by promising to see the show of whomever is sitting right next to me in the audience of a different show. That’s how I met Torrey and I am glad I did. This show was a delight and the playlist (of 250+ songs she references and over 20 1980’s movies) provided at the end of the performance will carry me through the long flight home. The premise is clever and the execution is delightful. It’s a fun hour where you feel like true backup vocalists whenever you sing along with Torrey. Lots of great fun, a must see!

♾️ This is not a show that requires in total darkness in the room, in fact natural light (well, as much as can be expected of Scotland) was coming in and its minimalist production makes it great for neurodivergent and sensory-conscious audience members.

What a fabulous and fun afternoon spent in the company of Torrey Shine. She very cleverly patched together a flowing, sensitive, funny and touching narrative tale using only the words of 89s songs and the occasional pop culture reference for good measure. A thoroughly enjoyable show and it was great fun trying to pick out the lyrics and reference.

A wonderful new genre. If you knew that era, you will love it. Took me right back and amazed me how many references I knew. A moving journey of ref' after ref' all woven into a story. Great interpretation and singing. Very passionate. I was so glad I saw it, Once in a Lifetime. Well done.

I loved Torrey's show! Quite a tour de force of SO many song lyrics - it was fun to try and connect the words with all the songs - satisfying when I knew I'd got it right, and still fun when I had no idea what the song was, as the lyrics are so cleverly woven into the story.

I also enjoyed very much the way Torrey moves on stage. The gestures and movements underline the story and are just as engaging as the dialogue and singing. A real masterclass in how to fully use a stage to make a solo show come alive with a simple stage setup.

Torrey is also a very warm and engaging performer who wants to ensure everyone is having a great time...and they do.

Brilliant all around!

What an incredible performance, the volume of references and lyrics that have been squeezed into the script is nothing short of breathtaking (as is the speed and strength of the performance). Yet none of it felt forced. A hidden gem in the back of a cafe, well worth seeking out.

What a fun and incredibly creative show! Torrey SHINES (pun intended) with her many voices and carefully woven movements/choreography. It was so much fun singing and quoting along! So well crafted together! And a wonderful performance, especially given the tiny space!

This was such a fun show. You'll find yourself humming or singing along, Torrey packs so much nostalgia into this high energy romp thru the 80's. Go see it!

Born in the 80s and I really enjoyed this show. She blends so many film and music references into the 1 hour show. I recommend this show.

The audience were immersed in an 80’s storyline that had them briefly singing along and trying to remember which songs or movies the lyrics came from. A genius piece of work, performed very well by a colourful and enthusiastic performer.
