We really enjoyed this show! Great fun with a clever, witty script, a zany cast of characters brought to life by a fantastic cast and very well written, catchy songs accompanied live by a talented band. Great choreography too! Saw it twice and hope it comes back next year!

Fun, slick musical debut. Thought the sound was very well balanced, strong singers and band and some catchy numbers, my favourite was Iddy Biddy.
Would live to see their next production.

The Detective’s Demise makes its debut here at the 2024 Festival Fringe. The mystery starts when Ben Stone, brilliant detective and exceptional egotist, dies at his own birthday party. Any one of the attendees could have done it, and it's up to a hapless, newly-appointed detective to try and save the day (and the biscuits, before they're all scoffed).
With catchy songs, good musicians and a smart and funny script, it raises smiles across its 50 minute runtime. The music was a lick too loud at times, drowning out some of the actors, but the funny dialogue shone through from "Whodunnit?" to "We know Whodidit!"

What a romp! Wonderfully written songs with a stellar orchestra.
Funny, cleverly developed characters from some very, very talented actors. So good we’re going back for a second round tonight.

A sharp script and some confident performances from a talented cast.
The music support works well, holding the show together. Great work from just two keyboards and a drummer.
Overall, a polished presentation. Let's hope we can see this group again next year.

This show was one of the best things I’ve seen at the fringe this year. Side splittingly hilarious, keeps you on your seat till the very end, and with the most well written and catchy music! This show is going to go far.

We were really pleased we chose to see this. Detective's Demise is a cleverly written comedy musical with catchy songs, laugh out loud jokes and thought provoking characters. We would very much recommend supporting this young person led collaboration. 5 stars from us!

Really enjoyable light-hearted evening show to finish the day with. Comic caper with a great cast of characters each with a motive to be the murderer. Well-differentiated songs with clever lyrics. Good choreography and high energy throughout.

A really smart, witty, and fun dark-comedy murder mystery. The twists are eccentric, but fit logically in the heightened world of the show. The music is often rhythmic and verbally percussive, occasionally even patter, which perfectly compliments the sharply funny mood of the show.
The only downside is that in a space this size the actors really need to be mic'ed, and they're not. Audibility is an issue, and tonight the music (especially the drums) often drowned out the vocals. Hopefully the team will achieve better balance in future performances. In any event, I'd advise trying to sit up front and center.

An entertaining comedic murder mystery. Just a shame the cast were un-mic'd as the keyboard did drown out a fair bit. I was very glad the killer recapped what they'd done as I hadn't heard it in the song!
Might be better if you sit on the left hand side (as far away from the band as possible).

This show is great! Performed by a talented group of university students who clearly love what they are doing. The music and songs are clever and funny. I left wondering how a murder can be so uplifting! It's got to be the energy from these young actors. It's a great story with likeable characters, highly recommended and well worth the £10 ticket price.
