Description

Hedonistic queer party-goer Rey is sent on a mission to bury nuclear waste in an underground nightclub. Thumping bass, sweaty armpits, acid techno, thigh-highs, vinyl scratches... a sea of toxic waste. We've buried our atomic past under tainted soil – what do we tell future generations when our secrets are unearthed? Through neon-lit hallways and graffiti-scrawled backrooms, Rey stumbles over intoxicated encounters and down psychedelic rabbit-holes to send a message deep through time. Is it worth it? Or should they just dance the night away?

Loved it — if you're reading this before the final performance, go! Intricate and transportive design, a strong and confident performance, and and excellent constructed narrative that doesn't hand-hold the audience — I relish walking away from a story that FEELS like it all makes sense...and feels like if I saw it one more time I'd be able to understand it all.

Highly original, mind blowing and thought provoking. Works well on many levels, even just as sci-fi if that is what you like. This is what the Fringe, at best, is all about. Catch it tomorrow or Saturday

Jake Mace’s performance as Rey, combined with their sensory-rich script, was electric; you can smell the sweat, taste the vodka Red Bull, and feel the thrill of a night out. The techno score thrums in your chest, the colorful flashes of light disorient you, and the costuming is at once both futuristic and not out-of-place on any queer twenty-something. The message blends the desire for community with environmental responsibility and highlights the queer longing for a safe space; a place to let go, somewhere to call home, a piece of Earth to dance upon.

Honestly was exhausted so either story was complicated or just skipped past me some parts. Overall, first gem of the Ed fringe. A script that is so descriptive with some heavy funky techno...what's not to like? Jake sucks you into this new dangerous future but also the highs of parting. Please put this on your radar.

This was a fantastic show, highly recommended.

An immersive blend of spoken word, comedy and thought provoking material.

We thoroughly enjoyed the story and the authentic queer voice.

This show is a feast for the senses. The epic lights, unique musical score and heartfelt performance leaves you buzzing long after you’ve left the venue. A must to see for anyone who recognizes feeling torn between climate anxiety and the need to let go and have a good time.
