Description

She's here! She's queer! Her parents are sort-of used to it! Fresh, exciting and overall just happy to be here, Dee is the greatest transgender comedian her small village has ever produced. This debut stand-up show is about reconciling with the past, coming out and going through two puberties (frankly, two too many). As seen on the BBC New Comedy Awards Final and Comedy Central Live. 'Delightfully funny... thoroughly engaging' (Chortle.co.uk). 'You could well be furious about not getting a ticket to one of their sold-out shows very soon' (Guardian).

5/5 star. Definitely not one to miss, Dee Allum's show is funny and had the audience laughing right off the bat. Dee is a stand-up comedian discussing her experiences of being a trans-woman and her relationships with family, friends and partners. Whether you know a lot or a little about what it's like to be trans, Dee is a great guide and explains everything clearly but in a way that keeps the audience laughing. With charisma and warmth, and oodles of hilarious anecdotes, Dee Allum is one to watch.

This was just brilliant. Dee is so fun and an expert at her craft already, but her show also spoke so much truth. There were things I coule relate to on a deeply personal level, but also many things I learned to see from a new perspective.

We stumbled into this show (not knowing anything about it) and found it be one of the best shows we've ever seen at the Fringe. Netflix needs to give Dee her own comedy special. She is brilliant, warm, and welcoming. It is a hilarious education about transgender women that all cis gendered folks like my wife and I absolutely must see.

Hilarious. A great joke writer. One of my favorite acts I saw at this Fringe. A great hour of very funny stand-up.

I absolutely loved this show and found Dee to be an absolute delight, she is as hilarious as she is tiny. I found Deadname to perfectly balance being an accessible exploration of her trans identity for cis/het audiences while also including queer audience members in riffs and grace notes that speak to our shared experiences. A lot of queer comedians can rely on easy queer jokes to entertain more general audiences and I appreciated that this show really rejected that notion.

Also, the best Kurdish recitation you're going to hear from a non-native trans woman this Fringe. (One for the poster.)

Found Dee a very honest and amusing comedienne, a totally fun show which will have you smiling and admiring Dee for the journey travelled

There are no frills, no unexpected twists or surprises, but Allum’s irrefutable charm and ability to mine such a deeply personal experience for a comedy hour shows she doesn’t need it.

With her warm and open presence, there’s a well-earned and rewarding poignancy towards the end – and happiness in who she is now, while allowing herself also to love who she used to be. A brilliant first show!
