Firstly, I had a good time at this event because I enjoy music and dancing. However, I think this event could be so much more.
Firstly; it was too light. If you’re choosing the 7pm show it should still feel a bit clubby. It’s sold as an immersive experience but it’s hard to immerse yourself when you can see people staring in from the bar next door and it feels like daylight.
Secondly, there was one dancing disco ball lady and a couple of times some paper confetti landed on the crowd. The immersive side of it felt quite lacklustre. There was a review of this event in the paper which said everyone got a glow stick, there was a saxophonist etc. none of that happened at the event I went to.
Thirdly, the songs were not varied enough in terms of genres or decades. There was a LOT of 60s and 70s. Absolutely no 90s indie and no 90s dance til I requested a song at the end. Maybe they thought the 7pm crowd would be ancient. However, the average age was probably people born in the 80s.
Fourth- don’t play long songs to the end- people get bored and get desperate for the next tune- listening to instrumental endings playing out is boring. Get the next song started to lift the crowd.
Lastly; we went to the bar and it was suggested to us we could have a double vodka as a drink- never in my wildest dreams did I expect the cost of two drinks to be £40!! The bar prices are wild! Was informed that’s because the house vodka was [a premium brand]. The bar was barely used- the bar staff were miserable.
