I'm a sucker for stories about actors and the profession, from stars of BBC drama from the 70s to extras on Hollywood movies here in the 2020s, so this show from Dave Ahdoot, about the numerous adverts he's filmed across his career, was right up my alley.

Told with modesty, humour, pride and a good sense of storytelling (and liberal use of silly Photoshop), this was a fun and enjoyable show and a must-see for fans of jobbing actors and fun comedy.

I enjoyed the show with Dave Ahdoot's sharp (and wickedly non pc) insights of the (extraordinary and hilarious) US Advertising Industry. But without wishing for a spoiler, the leitmotif would work even better were there a flag for Palestine alongside that of Israel on the flag option slide. (smiley emoji).

Got drawn in by our interaction on the street where I tried to (and successfully) guessed his ethnicity. A natural story teller and lots of laughs - I’m so glad I saw his show! I would 100% recommend it. Now my internet search history consists of “how to be in an advert”…

This is a super fun and entertaining show. Dave Adhoot mashes up storytelling and comedy, sharing stories of his first experiences breaking into the commercial acting industry. Though he now has acting credits that will make your eyes pop, the show focuses on his early days and his very first commercials - being a blurry guy in the background, non-speaking roles, and then... his first speaking role! What does he get to say? I won't ruin the surprise!

The pacing of the show just flows so naturally. Adhoot incorporates old videos and images, allowing the audience to zoom in on specific moments.

He depicts himself as a likeable underdog, while also owning up to his own embarrassing mistakes and mishaps along the way. It's humble and vulnerable, without being self-deprecating. The audience was along for the ride from start to finish - laughing at his mistakes, and celebrating in moments of victory.

Overall - this is an excellent solo show, mashing up videos, autobiographical storytelling, comedy, and social commentary. Highly recommended!

We hadn't planned on seeing this show until we saw the poster and I admit, I was drawn in by the title.

Dave's show was great - I laughed lots and enjoyed his inside stories of appearing in commercials as the "Ethnically Ambiguous" guy.

I felt bad that there were not more people seeing the show, as our Sunday night performance definitely deserved far more people in the audience!

Just got back from seeing Dave Adhoot’s one man show about being ethnically ambiguous in the commercial advertising world and I’m still laughing. As a commercial producer who once worked with Dave, I knew he was funny, but this show took that to the next level. His take on being cast because he is ethnically ambiguous is not only hilarious but it’s spot on! Dave has a way of making every day absurdities into pure comic gold. If you get the chance, don’t miss his show. It’s an hour of non-stop laughs.

This show is absolutely hilarious! Dave's story is one-of-a-kind, and I can't wait to see it again. He grips us in the beginning with a strong "what's gonna happen?" and has the audience laughing all the way to till curtain.

Besides being a consummate joke teller, Dave is a theatrical technician whose mastery reminds us that we're in good hands.

This show was incredible. I wandered in after getting a flyer for this show and having nothing better to do that night, but it blew my expectations away. Dave is not only hilarious (spit water out twice), but the show tells a really interesting story about his commercial career in the States that captivated me the entire time. If you're at all on the fence about it like I was, I HIGHLY recommend you check this out -- well worth it!!!! I'm a Dave Adhoot stan now!!

Fantastic dive into what it means to be racially indistinguishable - and how that plays into the narratives of adverts. Excited to see Dave do more

A fascinating dive into the life of an accidental career in commercial advertising: kinda like a cross between stand-up comedy and a powerpoint presentation. Laidback, disarmingly honest, and interesting.

Super charming dude with a personal deepdive into corporate america and the truly strange world of advertisement. Funny, ironic, honest. Hope to see more from Dave. Could easily play a role in a comedy show.

His story is unquestionably interesting, and to me, compelling tales of the path less trodden are part of the Edinburgh Fringe’s lifeblood.
