This was a wonderful one-woman show telling the life story of George Eliot. The elegant drawing room setting in Edinburgh's new town was perfect and tea with cake was most welcome. Liz was engaging and interesting as George and I was spellbound from start to finish. A gifted performance and well worth a visit.

I totally echo the previous reviews. One of my highlights of my Fringe this year. A charming location which provides a bit of a respite from the throng elsewhere. Well worth the trip. Charming, amusing and informative to boot. Always great to find something below the radar.

Fabulous show in equally fabulous setting.
Liz Mance delivers an enchanting performance as writer George Eliot and many of the characters significant in her life.
The beautiful airy drawing room filled with antique furniture including a piano provided the perfect setting for Liz Mance to showcase her extensive research of Eliot's life.
Tea served in a china cup with a slice of Victoria sponge adds to the charm of this delightful show.
This will appeal to lovers of English literature and historians alike.
A very warm welcome, refreshments and comfortable setting have made this one of the most enjoyable afternoons of the many Fringe shows I have seen over the years.
A huge thank you to all those who worked hard to bring this lovely show to the Fringe.

Brilliant one woman show written and performed by actor Elizabeth Mance playing a range of key characters and events in George Eliot’s life. I was completely engrossed throughout and blown away by the transformation from one character to another. Everyone should go and see this, I loved it!

Fantastic show. I’m a History teacher and found the historical aspect of this production to be both insightful and fascinating. Get your tickets while you can as it is a very small venue and you don’t want to miss out.

***** What a fabulous show! Suddenly you are transported from 2024 to 1824. A fly on the wall experience watching Mary Ann Evans, alias George, take you through a sequence of key life time events. Informative, amusing, sad, thought provoking and fun. So good, I am going back with friends on Friday - definitely a five star rating from me.
