Description
A trans boy and his piano’s musical exploration of romantic failure. Through a painful confrontation of embarrassing memories, this is a celebration of queer joy. Join as he finds a new theory of love. Raised in LA, based in NYC, Otis Wolodarsky has met his fair share of metrosexuals. Though these men may not understand Otis, Otis understands them. And has loved them. He’s learned, he’s been burned, he’s written a lot of gender theory. He is ready to reupholster your understanding of transness. Trust him, it’s not what you think. Please note that while all media gallery content is provided by verified members of the event, the Edinburgh Festival Fringe Society does not review or approve this content before it is posted. I found this show very moving. It is such a candid and honest account of this teenager's journey to feel comfortable within themselves and sturdy in their fluid gender identity. The piano and songs are intrinsically a part of it. Otis Wolodarsky carries the solo show memorably. I hope it gets a chance to go to lots of places.
This show helped me understand better the reasons for transitioning and the positive freedom it offers some people.

I LOVE OTIS. You wanna hear a beautiful story and see a magnetic and talented human play the piano and sing his heart out? You wanna start the day right at 11am? This is the best way. A heartfelt and moving piece about trans liberation. Important and a must see.

5 STARS! Best show I have seen at Fringe so far. Funny, amazing original music and profoundly touching. Otis’ ability to tap into and represent honest, gritty, yet playful and optimistic queer experiences is profoundly extraordinary. He is truly one of a kind and one to watch.

Spellbinding, creative, musical, courageous, I hung on every word of Otis' performance. We experienced 10 shows and The Christening is the one I take home with me. It is a shift in perspective - a welcomed expanse. Experience more than once!

absolutely captivating. at times radically heartbreaking, at times sensationally funny, but vulnerable all the way through. Otis delivers the story with a quiet confidence, seamlessly navigating the emotional diversities that come with your college years, and provides a deeply personal reflection on gender identity. Would recommend this show to anyone who stumbles upon this page - I left desperately wanting more.

I was so moved and inspired by The Christening of Prince Imogene that I went to see it twice! It was honest, thought provoking, funny, brave, heart felt and the songs were absolutely beautiful. It made me laugh and cry and the storytelling opened my heart and mind. Otis is a true and original talent and I can’t wait to see what’s next.

What a way to spend your 11 am. Otis lovingly shares so much of himself, and in the process asks us all to ask ourselves what it means to be in our bodies and what it means to be alone. It's a powerful piece with beautiful original music. Must see!

This is a sensitive soulful treatment of transgender issues. A superb performance from Otis, both in the spoken word and the accompanying music. For those of us unaware of the issues and challenges arising for trans people this is a must see show. Well produced and totally worthwhile.

Otis gives a super tender and chuckle inducing performance about his trans journey and what it means to him, while inviting all of us to experience it as well. It is beautiful, with original songs written and performed by Otis that are so good that leave you longing for the day they drop on Spotify. Otis talking about their weed dealing situationship is worth the price of admission alone. A truly heartfelt performance that is not to be missed. I will be thinking about the show
ending for a long time.

45 minutes more than perfectly spent - we were entertained in the most intelligent way, emotionally touched, our horizons were broadened and our hearts warmed.
Otis manages to create an authentic atmosphere in this intimate setting despite precisely placed dramaturgical accents ((congratulations also to the equally careful and strong staging and the delicate lighting!), in which he holds all the theatrical strings in his hand at every moment, but still tells the story in a permeable and vulnerable way, as if we were old friends he has not seen him for a long time.
Also memorable: the skillfully written original songs - and their touching performance!
Conclusion:
Go and see this show, let yourself be taken on Otis' journey!

Brave. Courageous. Genuine. Otis is a confident storyteller and emotive musician who recounts his struggle and successes with poise & charm. I absolutely adored this production that will be particularly powerful for members of the trans community to attend.

Otis is a fantastic storyteller. I felt like I was walking through his life with him. His songs are touching and excellently crafted. The cherry on top is Natasha Vincent's excellent direction and specific world-building throughout.

This show was so wonderful, so so wonderful. Brilliantly composed songs that Otis performed with such skill, such beautiful story telling where Otis is wearing their heart on their sleeve, with so much warmth, joy and love.
The show was moving, touching, made me smile, laugh and kept me thinking for days.
A great show that you should not miss!

No cliches here. A compelling story told with great warmth and skill, interwoven with Otis’s original songs that serve the show and entwine themselves around your heart (especially the last four). As my son says in his review- pick of the Fringe for us.

My Dad and I sort of randomly chose this after just being spontaneously compelled by the description and the desire for something shorter to fill our morning, but we left only wishing it had been longer. Not only is The Christening of Prince Imogene charming, funny, brilliantly performed and smartly written, it also manages to avoid some of the easy trappings of the self-discovery genre while sticking to simple fundamentals that moved things on at a pace and equally developed our relationship with the titular prince. Of our busy (25+ shows) fringe, this cracks into both of our top 3s with ease.
In short, go see this!!!!
