Description

The world-famous Willy Wonka is opening the gates to his mysterious factory… but only to a lucky few. Young Charlie Bucket and four other golden ticket winners will embark on a life-changing journey through Wonka’s world of pure imagination including chocolate waterfalls, nutty squirrels and the great glass elevator, all to be revealed by Wonka's army of curious Oompa-Loompas. Featuring an adult and children’s cast this is sure to be a hit of the Fringe. ‘Oodles of acting, singing and dancing talent and a sound system to die for’ (NorthWestEnd.co.uk, for Matilda JR, 2023).

Saw this last night with my 6 year old. We both thoroughly enjoy the amazing performance. A family favourite with a fabulous cast and great music! Would love to see any of their performances.

Loved this ! Saw it last night and this show is everything you’d except Charlie to be , it’s heartwarming, imaginative and funny too. The cast were stellar, vocals incredible , especially Mrs Salt, Mrs Teevee and Mrs Beauregard and the pairings of all the ticket winners and their parents were very funny indeed, especially Veruca and Mrs Salt whose interplay was just fabulous throughout. The Tv presenters were a great comedy act and the alternative Oompa Loompas were very imaginative . Five stars !⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

My family and I thoroughly enjoyed this production, the singing voices of these young people are amazing and the comedy timing brilliant. Captivate Theatre did a brilliant job once again.

Saw tonight and thoroughly enjoyed every minute! I loved how the chocolate factory came to life with the Oompa Loompa dancers . The cast were immense, I loved the TV presenters who were laugh out loud funny and also the double act of Mrs Salt and Veruca who both had the best facial expressions. A timeless story which was brought to life wonderfully. Don’t miss it!

Great show! Fantastic cast, great use of set and strong singing voices all round. Very clever way of doing the grandparents' bed.

Thank you

A wonderful and heartwarming production of a family favourite. A talented cast deliver strong performances. Fantastic comedy from Jerry and Cherry along with some stellar vocals from Mrs Salt and Mrs Beauregarde. Great direction and creative choices with a small space. Brilliant musical direction.

Absolutely loved this show , such a strong, talented cast . Loved the cool Ooompa Looompas . The principal cast were fantastic, each golden ticket winner owning their part . Special mention for Veruca who was perfectly horrible and Violet B who belted out Queen of Pop , what a voice ! and of course the two presenters who were very funny . Well worth going to see , you won’t be disappointed. Well done all ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Everything you want from a fringe show! The vocals and movement from the whole cast were outstanding and all their talents came together to create a great production. A lot of thought had clearly gone into how to set the scenes with limited props and they did it marvellously - injecting colour and creativity when required to guide the audience through the story. Captivate never disappoint - Uplifting, heartwarming, slick and hugely entertaining! I highly recommend.

We went to see Charlie and the chocolate factory tonight and it was amazing! I loved the new spin on the oompa loompas who's dancing and vocals were on point. Charlie was sensational particularly considering he was never off stage! Willy Wonka himself was brilliant with the perfect mix of eccentricity and kindness. A big shout out has to go to all the parents/grandparents who captured each role brilliantly. The other golden ticket winners were perfectly unlikeable, each in their own unique way - I mean this positively of course!
Another stand out was Cherry Sundae who really made me laugh with her presentation and dance moves.
It was Grandpa Joe though that stole the show for me - never breaking character and coming across so warm hearted and loving to Charlie.
Well done everyone

Just brilliant! Saw this last night and loved it! Captivate have scored another winner with this one, the cast were simply outstanding and very funny, especially loved Mrs Salt and Veruca and a very touching performance too from the young Charlie and Grandpa Joe. The vocals were superb, the Oompa Loompas were great and the music from the live band was fantastic. Do pick up tickets for this one, well worth a visit.

Both Charlie's (I've been twice!) are so good, wonka and grandpa Joe are amazing and the range of Golden ticket winners are perfectly cast. We loved the cool, more grown up vibe of the oompla loopmas and the dancing and singing abilities of the whole cast are nothing short of brilliant! I loved the use of props and wondered how they would be able to create being inside the chocolate factory but it was really great. The music was so fun and all round it was a good show that is definitely worth seeing!

Beyond imagination! All the escapism you want during the Fringe. Talent galore in both the children and adults with so many laugh-out-loud moments. A real treat for the whole family.
