Description
'She comes towards me on the floor; always approaching; never coming nearer; always visible as if by moonlight whether the moon shines or not.' A writer struggling to reignite his creative vision. A real-life crime. And a visit to a supposedly haunted inn. As darkness descends, a ghostly tale is played out. But what is real and what is not? A tale of passion, deceit and the ethereal dance between the realms of life and death as the Hanged Man's Bride beckons from the shadows of the past. Please note that while all media gallery content is provided by verified members of the event, the Edinburgh Festival Fringe Society does not review or approve this content before it is posted. A wonderful adaptation of a classic Dickens. James keeps the audience captivated throughout and transitions seamlessly from character to character. Very well done.

James is one of the best storytellers I have ever seen. He is magical to watch.

Fantastic for anyone with a love of Victorian history or ghosts. Engaging and energised performance from the lead actor who keeps up the pace of the slow burn horror story expertly, while also touching on how it ties in with the life of the author. Catch this before it sells out.

Excellent interpretation of a little known tale. An evolving ghost story mystery that keeps you guessing. Wonderful one man performance that captures the characters and the feel of Dickensian times.

Superb performance that captures your attention from the immediate arrival on stage and leaves you enthralled through such an enthusiastic performance. Sound effects support the narrative superbly and leaves one thinking about the true subject and the reality of them

An excellent one man show that had everyone on the edge of their seat. Great storytelling.

A very good one man show. The actor adeptly switching between characters with ease. Nice tense old fashioned horror tale. Can recommend.

A truly terrifying tale delivered to great effect.
Superb acting, I felt transported to the time and place of this darkest of plays.

A wonderful one-man retelling of one of Dickens’ lesser known ghost stories and the forth production by the Blue Orange Arts group I’ve seen this Fringe, I would highly recomend seeing all four (especially if you can fit them all in on one day).

An absolute masterclass in storytelling. As always James brings the tale to life

Excellent storytelling. Only one actor but it was always clear which character he was portraying through his amazing acting skills! We would definitely recommend this show!

I would definitely recommend this show. The actors performance brought to life the work of Dickens with very few props. As the actor switched between characters, multiple times, you never lost track of who he was portraying.....really impressive story telling skills.

Excellent show by James Nicholas - manages to tell the story effectively with almost zero props or costume, just by his character performances. Well told tale, lovely way to spend an hour at the Fringe.

I was looking for a spooky ghost story/play whilst in Edinburgh and this show totally delivered. It's a one man show and the lead is an excellent actor bringing to life a range of different characters, all in a very atmospheric way. I was gripped throughout. I'd highly recommend this show!
