Description

Thief. Murderer. Gentleman. The Hár presents a unique musical setting of a harrowing Australian-Irish story: the exploits of an Irish convict, escapee, and bushranger, Martin Cash. Excerpts of Cash's 1870 colourfully ghostwritten autobiography are brought to life with traditional tunes from The Hár (Perth, Australia) to tell tales of crime and captivity, escape and arrest, hope and despair. An experience not to be missed!

Cash out of Hand was a hidden treasure buried in an excellent intimate venue at the Leith Depot. The superbly-executed Irish traditional music tied together by Dominic Blaikie’s sensitive narration was a joy to experience. Tight band, haunting airs, driving jigs and reels - it had the lot! This deserves a bigger audience. I hope it comes back next year!

Great show - enjoyed every minute of it. Tale of Irishman banished to Australia was engaging, but what really made the show was the fantastic music played by amazing musicians. Loved the cosy nature of the venue. Hope the group come back next year.

This was a wonderful, spell-binding story, told in music, words and song. The music was powerful and accomplished. It created the atmosphere of the story. This historically accurate account of one young man's experience of deportation from Ireland to (what is now) Australia is unmissable.
