Description

As a lapsed Catholic obsessed with medieval history, Caitriona spends a lot of time thinking about saints. In fact, she's pretty sure she has what it takes to become one. She invites you to join her cult in a debut solo hour complete with graphs, religious guilt and floating nuns. Chortle Student Comedian of the Year 2022. 'Unique and imaginative' (Chortle.co.uk). 'Lots of excellent gags' (Comedy.co.uk). 'Her self-effacing, smart and well-structured routines prove that organised fun is inherently superior to spontaneous fun' (ThreeWeeks).

Spectaculum me delectavit. Catharinam comoediae peritissimam esse existimo eamque inter sanctos relatum iri spero. Nuper Latine discere coepi ac propter Catharinam pergere volo ut fautor monachi Byland fieri possim.

(I really enjoyed the show. I think Caitriona is very skilled at comedy and I hope she becomes a saint. I recently started learning Latin, and because of Caitriona I want to carry on so I can become a Monk of Byland fan.)

A clever and thought provoking routine with lots of laughs. Highly recommended. Will look out for future shows.

Caitriona's comedy was a heavenly experience.

I love a well-structured, well-scripted, organized, (and very fun) comedy stand-up routine, and this was just up my alley. Not only funny, but also learned interesting things, which is always nice!

I highly recommend it if you are up for a great piece of comedy. Really nice.

Caitriona was absolutely superb: her show is a very clever, entertaining, and surprisingly informative hour of deadpan, laugh-out-loud comedy. We really enjoyed it and would definitely recommend!

(and, despite being in our mid-twenties, as fellow enthusiasts of organised fun we are now also inspired to host a Radio 4-themed birthday party!)

Caitriona Dowden delivers esoteric, deadpan comedy. Her material, rich with obscure references and intellectual wit, is a treasure trove of cleverness. Dowden’s low-energy delivery is executed with confidence and skill. One to watch for the future.

Fantastic show! Extremely witty, clever, and well thought out!
Would definitely see again!

“Fun well planned and executed”!
Hilariously oddball and esoteric, yet impressively accessible given its niche academic and religious themes. If floating nuns, lactating condiments, and extremely literal horror stories sound like your bag, come and join the cult of St. (in progress) Caitriona!

Someone make Caitriona a saint asap!! This show is brilliant. You learn, you laugh, and you leave wanting more.

Caitriona was a great dead-pan comedian and my favourite artist I saw at the Free Fringe this year! The props were brilliant (and super relatable) and it was a unique set that I encourage any audience age to see. I am super excited to follow her work and watch for what she does next!

Very clever and very funny, a high level of respect to anyone who likes numerical classification. The graphs were great too.

Caitriona Dowden is on a vertical trajectory straight to Sainthood! Sivfunny from start to finish - wish I could see it again. A gold plated original talent. Loved it!! Go see

Very funny. The most original, individual and intelligent show of the 30 we saw.

I really loved Catriona's elaborate, labyrinthine deconstructions of the comedy form. I heartily enjoyed the humility and learnedness that is on display here, which is presented in a fun, accessible way, never vanishing into the cloud of its own egoic unknowing. I hate the vast majority of comedy, which I avoid like the plague, but really enjoyed this show. Definitely worth the time and space to see.

Excellent writing, very engaging performance style - the hour flew by! Caitriona has a calm confidence that makes her highly watchable, and leaves the audience feeling like they are in very safe hands.

Caitriona Dowden is no Saint, but she is very funny. Her deadpan style is clever and charming, I laughed all the way through, and also actually learned a few things! Highly recommend.

A truly hilarious show. Great gags and fresh delivery, well timed and thoughtful. Loved the well-chosen props as well.
