Description
Join Brother Smudge on a voyage through ventriloquised extinct animals, poems written on discarded objects, BSL poetry, hammer dulcimer playing and Gregorian chant. A playfully serious reflection on climate change, disability and what we've lost. Brother Smudge has invented a new form of poetry, a three dimensional poetry that responds to our contemporary ecological condition. Please note that while all media gallery content is provided by verified members of the event, the Edinburgh Festival Fringe Society does not review or approve this content before it is posted. We enjoyed our time listening to the Strange Meditations of Brother Smudge. Some of the poetry was beautiful and the occasional bars of dulcimer music haunting. I felt that there was an interesting story being told although at times I couldn't quite grasp what it was. We were in Edinburgh at the beginning of the Fringe and went to the show because we wanted to be there.

Any Fringe-goers partial to poetry should see Brother Smudge's Strange Meditation. Sam is a brilliant poet and presents a peaceful, thought-provoking, beautiful show, with lots of funny moments too. Large themes include poems from the point of view of extinct animals, poems about grief, small poems written that day on coffee cups, with musical interludes on the dulcimer. The show changes day to day, so why not go twice!
