Description

Brett Epstein – host of the decade-long smash Rule of 7x7 (New York Times, Time Out New York, Playbill highlight) and the very very co-star of Friends from College and Ray Donovan – reflects upon the highs and lows of being an artist, being alone and Being Alive™. A darkly comic Brooklyn Bottling Company solo show.

Brett Epstein is a delight from start to finish. An extremely funny, relatable guy who takes you on his journey with aplomb. This was the first show I saw at Edfringe and. it was super.

Brett is a gem of a human. So genuine, hilarious, and has crafted such a beautiful arc in his show. You will laugh and feel less alone. He’s the freaking best.

I was only at this show through word of mouth - someone said I would enjoy it. They were not wrong! Brett is deliciously irreverent and raw about his own shortcomings and yet delightfully talented and engaging. He lays bare his career highs and lows as well as his dating struggles - informative (did you know that "y'all" is non-gendered vernacular queers use in NYC?) and hilarious in equal measure. Do go - you will enjoy it!

Brett unpacks his artistic process and struggle through laughter and a rare extent of vulnerability. I immensely enjoyed the show, it felt fresh and personal with Brett searching for a connection with his audience and establishing one strongly by the time we left the theatre. A brilliant performance of humanity and the struggle for connection in the modern world, whilst still keeping the atmosphere light hearted and enjoyable.

Brett and his storytelling have so much heart. This show is funny, quick-witted, and I don’t want him to feel “Alone on Stage” ever again. Go see this wonderful show before it’s over!

Like holding a mirror up to the inside of my brain. Neurotic Jews will see themselves reflected, neurotic gays will see themselves reflected, and gay Jews — well, this show is really the agony and ecstasy of being known. And those who fall into neither camp will simply have to marvel at the skill on display in Brett's portrayal of himself-turned-up-to-11. The performance feels immediate and unplanned, all while being executed with astonishing precision.

This was ok, but afraid we weren’t wowed.

Brett was a delight on stage! A thoughtful and intimate show about human connection and learning to accept yourself truly. I loved Brett’s insight into the importance of family and how his life has changed due to his relationship with his nephew. I particularly enjoyed the segment at the end in which Brett answered questions from the audience. This demonstrated his ability to think on his feet and be open, honest and vulnerable! Everything Brett said was entertaining but also thought provoking. Would see again :)

An intense, laugh-out-loud, acerbic character rendering that brilliantly skewers fear response and interrogates loneliness as we move deeper into the trenches of adulthood. ALONE ON STAGE is the rare solo hour that balances vulnerability and whimsy without compromising its own intrepid intelligence. Don't miss it.

Brett may be alone on stage but he wasn’t alone in that room! It was a full house and he brought that house down!!! What a performance, what an experience, what a show to see

Brett makes me laugh til I cry. For one hour you get to step inside a brilliant and frenetic mind as Brett seamlessly jumps from one thought to the next. There is absolutely nothing like it.

Such a fun and ultimately heartwarming time at the theater! Brett is hilarious and his mix of excellently timed comedic storytelling and willingness to vulnerably share and connect with the audience makes this solo show surprising and joyful to the very end.

Pure storytelling genius, this show will give you all the feels as Brett takes you through the rollercoaster of his life. It’s both playful and provocative, with moments of pure comedic gold, and will be one of the best things you see this year at the Fringe! Bravo, Brett.

'Alone On Stage' is such a treat. Brett delivers his comedy flair with a furious pace. I laughed the whole way through. His acting ability shines in this one man show that every struggling artist can sympathise with.

Brett bares his soul in a beautiful and unselfish way in this solo-show. I feel that I know him as I would know a good friend. The triumph of this show is in the bravery of interacting with an audience with your deepest insecurities on your sleeve from the start. We all have something to learn from Brett.

Brett is an incredible performer and comedian. His show is heartfelt and surprising — I laughed the whole way through. A gem of a solo show that stands out from the others.

Brett is such a treat to watch and is a must see at this years’s Fringe! His comedic patter balanced with sincere introspection gives us insight into the mind of a gay 30 something, I mean 20 something (see the show to catch the reference!) This show will truly make you feel not alone, and at the very least will make you laugh with gay glee!
