Description
Buckle-up with Ex Jehovah’s Witness Chris for a joy-ride through his teenage wedding, eventual emancipation, and those first car-crash forays onto the gay scene. Then stagger into A&E for a painfully funny account of life as a nurse and the many individuals Chris has encountered along the way. From a confessional car-crash to a deranged, dumpster fire! Watch agape as Pape repeatedly aims to wrong-foot the audience and establish dominance. Sure, he might have lube visibly on his face but (according to Pape) beneath the demented exterior there’s an erotic, middle-aged gay man with a magnetic presence! Please note that while all media gallery content is provided by verified members of the event, the Edinburgh Festival Fringe Society does not review or approve this content before it is posted. Having seen both of these comedians before in London I was very excited to see them team up and bring a show to the fringe and boy, they didn’t disappoint.
Chris skilfully takes us through his experiences finding himself in a world which is alien to most but manages to bring the audience along with him and make it hilarious and completely relatable to people who may not have experienced this with his charm and playfulness. John then took over and treated us to bizarre and hilarious storytelling in a way you would have never seen before, a truly unique piece of genius comedy that’ll have you howling.

A great show. Two contrasting styles but both very funny. I was crying with laughter for the whole of John's odd monologue and have been chuckling to myself since.

Bent Double was great fun, both Chris (Ford) and John (Pape) were masters of their own distinctly different arts of comedy, and told their stories well. The show was divided into two halves, with Chris on first. He was definitely a chatty man who was extremely likeable and made you feel you could cosy up to him and chat and laugh all night, while putting the world to rights over a cheap bottle of plonk and a packet of peanuts.
John was a rather different character.. a bit scary in fact! Mr. Weirdo himself. He appeared with his face dripping in oil and explained the reason (I think). He then stood on a chair and showed us all he had a piece of toilet paper stuck on the sole of his shoe. Apparently it was not by accident. All very bizarro!
All in all it was a tale of two halves and a very enjoyable hour well-spent. Definitely recommended!

This was undoubtedly my favourite comedy show of the Fringe. Two different comedians with different styles but both hilariously funny. I spent large parts of the show crying with laughter (and I wasn’t the only one). Highly recommended and it’s free (but get there early - the night I went there was a full house).

Saw the show tonight. As a 55year old straight woman I can say it was hilarious and I strongly recommend seeing their show. Both very different but equally talented and funny, so glad I picked a flyer up.

Two wildly different styles but both amazing. Chris and John had me in pieces the full show. Chris is the most charming guide through his life, while John pulls you along like a demented coachman. You essentially get two shows in one and can’t believe it was free!!! Highly recommended.

From gay best friend energy to gay worst nightmare, Chris and John take you on a journey from one extreme to another. A very, very funny show. I giggled and LOL’d throughout. 5 stars. 11/10.

The time flew by! The room was hot, the comedians hotter, and the comedic sets hottest. Note that this is a queer-themed Stand-up and character performance hour so you'd best stay among the beefy and lanky lads enjoying football in the bar if you're homophobic or uncomfortable with sex jokes if any kind.
Looking forward to seeing what the guys do next via Instagram. Hugs. xoxo

A fantastic split bill, featuring two wonderful comedians who are going places.
From Chris’ tales from his time as a camp preacher to John’s dramatic exile from Christian Radio. You are in for 60mins of pure joy.

Chris opened the show, his personality was radiating from him, the stories from his life were funny and engaging, overall very enjoyable 30 minutes.
John, was like nothing I've ever seen before, and i will probably never see again .
As he entered I did not know how it was going to go, on appearance alone it had car crash written all over it, but this act and performance were far from it .The minute he opened his mouth I was hooked in ,real laugh out loud moments, deep belly laughs, laughing at jokes again that happened 5 minutes before, it was none stop. The strange character that stood before me, in my eyes is a comedy genius. When watching John strap yourself in,you won't crash, but he will definitely take on a crazy ,enjoyable comedy ride .
5 star
