Description
CrimeLandTown is an affectionate one-man character comedy spoof of the Italian-American gangster epic. It's a story of a mafia heist, told by a bar singer who always wanted to be a wiseguy, but never made the grade. It's a daft narrative about ambition, failure and Frank Sinatra. Like Goodfellas, but really dumb. Ben has been heard on BBC Radio, and sold out shows at the Camden, Prague and Edinburgh Fringes. Nominated for two awards at LA's IndieX Film Festival. 'Slick, funny. Confident ridiculousness' (TheSpyInTheStalls.com). 'Fantastic... Hilarious' (LitteLarkOfLondon.com).Please note that while all media gallery content is provided by verified members of the event, the Edinburgh Festival Fringe Society does not review or approve this content before it is posted. Top three of the best shows watched at the fringe this year. An excellent comedy by an excellent comedian.

It's like seeing a piece of the West End in Edinburgh! Ben Goldsmith is talented, funny and fully committed to the characters!!

Brilliant work from Ben, a tour de force - a show that fully submerged the audience in all things Mafia - no crime or gangster film or novel goes unpulped. Great audience reaction to an all action show. Goldsmith darts about, the show if full of energy, costume changes, well realised characters, with their own distinct voices and motivations. The crowd work exceptionally funny. You’ll be chuckling about this long after the lights come up. You want fun, funny, silly then this is an offer you can’t refuse. Contains Comedy Gold

What a really enjoyable show. Full of energy and laughs and even a little pathos.

I didn’t really know what to expect with this one but it turned out to be one of the funniest things I’ve seen at this year’s fringe. Ben’s amazing physical characterisation had me captivated from start to finish and I laughed *hard* throughout. Please go see this… 5 stars.

Wow. What a show. Ben is a tour de force, every character hits. You laugh at each one and you feel for each one - I don’t know how we does it. I wish I could see more!!

What a great silly hour of Gangster fun - loads of fun tropes and character work - Ben has amazing energy on stage and has so much infectious fun with the audience it’s impossible not to join the very fun ride all the way to the absurdly climactic end! 5 stars!

I really had a good time at this show. Ben is such an engaging and versatile performer who can turn his hand to anything from joyful clown-y bits to intricately written jokes. Excellent characterisation too. Top recommendation!

Ben makes you fall in love with all these scumbag characters that populate the worlds of your favourite monster movies, before bringing them all crashing down in a hail of gunshot sound effects and jazzy music. Lots of fun and friendly audience interaction that really makes you feel like you’re part of the show (and part of the criminal underworld?)
Great use of sound and lights

CrimeLandTown is such a fun hour of really accomplished writing and performance. Nods to the gangster movies but Ben Goldsmith brings so much to the performance and makes a magical show in the room that you just have to be a part of - catch this guy now!!

I'm sorry, but this didn't do anything for me. A slow build up referencing the Godfather failed to develop into anything entertaining. Not helped by slow costume changes which left the audience in the dark both metaphorically and literally. Somehow despite some talent he managed to omit any real entertainment or new jokes. He was not a fun guy.

Amazingly silly humour. Didn't stop laughing throughout. Very funny writing, really well performed, and a very good show!

I saw this show yesterday and absolutely loved it! It was bloody hilarious. I loved the quick gags and I'm a huge bond fan so there was so much to belly laugh at omg. What a great performer!

Ben Goldsmith is very talented. He poured his heart and soul into the performance even though the crowd was small. The venue is off the beaten path, but not far from the royal mile.
Your time will be rewarded with some madcap interactive fun.
