Description

Cal Counters feels wasted in his hometown of Letterville. In a hero's journey you've seen a thousand times, Cal must count counters to defeat Count Numbers, the ruler of Countovia, in the ancient game of Battle Counters. Grab your cereal and strap in for a nostalgic hit of Saturday morning cartoons. It’s your classic tale of good versus evil… with added counters! In their debut Fringe show, John and Christian – ‘Deliciously sharp wit’ (OughtToBeClowns.com) – present a fictional 00s anime of epic proportions. Count 'em up!

I can’t explain how much JOY this show brought me. In amidst the chaos of Edinburgh, sometimes you need a show that is silly, fun and wholesome…and BATTLE COUNTERS IS IT. I want to make a disclaimer that I am not into Pokémon, cartoons or games like this…and I still loved this show. I didn’t know what to expect, but it’s an hour of classic comedy, it’s a parody of all those cartoons we grew up with, and it takes us on a fun adventure where we get to be a kid for an hour. (These two would make a cracking panto.) It’s such a rare thing that a 7 year old can laugh at the same joke as their parents. Can’t wait to see what these two do next!

Brilliant, clever, and makes you laugh so much. The comedy was genius, and I loved the energy and timing of the lines. It's definitely worth seeing, and I may have witnessed stars in the making. So good and still laughing!

Agree this show is a hidden gem for all ages. Silly. Funny. And with surprisingly delightful duet singing. Highly recommend. Clean for the whole family.

Loved Battle Counters so much! This show is a real gem – a joyous and hilarious pastiche of classic Pokémon/Dragon BallZ-style cartoons that hits all the right notes. It’s exactly the kind of quirky, unforgettable experience that makes the Fringe so special.

Battle Counters is silly, compelling, and endlessly entertaining. It’s the kind of show that sticks with you, full of memorable moments and quotable lines. The humor is delightfully unexpected and wonderfully irreverent, kept me laughing throughout.

The pace of the gags is spot-on, with the subtle references, impeccable comic timing, and charming improvisations all feeling perfectly effortless. Two lovely well-dressed boys delivering a delightful dose of silliness.

An absolute blast from the 90's past! A full Saturday morning cartoon filled with Yugioh, Pokemon and Beyblade references that made my inner child very happy. Cast was full of energy, show was well acted and it felt like an excellent smaller scale show, would highly recommend for all those who strained their eyes watching shows too close to their TV's while eating cereal when they were younger

What an unexpected gem. As a 50+ woman I suspected I wasn't the target audience but I loved it. A charming, funny, madcap, and utterly entertaining escapade with two instantly likeable and charismatic performers. Short run I think so get down there!
