Description
What would you do when trapped in a life or death situation with yourself? An endearing two-hander between strangers in a taxishare devolves into a hilarious, unnerving, and moving examination of selfhood in the modern day. When our identities are shaped by the media we consume, how unlikely is it to meet someone seemingly living your life - and would you trust them? Previous work has been dubbed 'eye-poppingly original' and 'a masterpiece of theatrical unreality' (Daily Info). Please note that while all media gallery content is provided by verified members of the event, the Edinburgh Festival Fringe Society does not review or approve this content before it is posted. Absolutely loved this, such a good concept, and so well executed. (Did anyone else think this would be a good Netflix special? Preferably adapted by Neil Gaiman.)

Brilliantly paced, witty and moving, with captivating performances bringing to life some fantastic characters. Definately a fringe highlight from a very talented cast and crew.

This show is practically perfect in every way; Acting, writing, design, and direction, all 10/10. Cancel all of your evening plans and go and see this before it’s gone, you will not regret it.

I watched Back Seat tonight and I have left with my friends absolutely speechless. Amazing writing & directing. The actors did a fabulous job being super naturalistic - I thought I was there with them.
A must see show at Fringe ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️.

Really clever writing with brilliant acting too. One of those shows you talk about the whole journey home (we did!)

Absolutely remarkable, one of the best shows that I have seen. It was a show that left me on the edge of my seat unsure of what would come next. The writing (though confusing as absurdist theatre is) was amazing, it opened up the door to a lot of interesting conversations with yourself and with others. Very impactful easily a 5 star from me ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

This was an excellent example of when incredible writing is given to exceptional actors. We were blown away by the chemistry between the people onstage and how cleverly the story unfolded. An Exciting New is definitely one to keep an eye on!

Such a gorgeous play. A simple set clearly denoted location, leaving the audience free to enjoy the immense talent of both actors and the witty, dynamic script. A very unique concept cleverly played out.

A cleverly written show which enables two very talented actors to demonstrate their considerable talents. This show is a gem . You are taken on a ride which is at first apparently straight forward but soon enters a world which asks more questions than gives answers but makes you think . My taxi ride home was a little unnerving . An absurdly good show . Well done to all .

A genuine masterclass in naturalism—both Vita Hamilton and Yasmin Nachif of the two-woman cast deliver the deadpan humour of such a wonderfully subtle script that the absurdism of the whole play seems not at all pretentious nor haughty, but darkly comedic with a universal appeal. An entirely enjoyable 50 minutes—HIGHLY recommend!

We came to see backseat on Sunday the 4th of August and left in awe of the piece the team have created. The set is just two seats, the back of a taxi, where two supposed strangers sit, yet the girls effortless naturalistic acting totally transported me into the car with them. The script felt fresh and the comedy gags, which fell mostly towards the beginning, will make any young person laugh out loud. As the play progressed the tension built and I found myself transfixed, waiting for the next plot twist and a final resolution. This witty and intricate writing, combined with the talent of the two actors made the show an exciting, funny and breathtaking. I would highly recommend.
