Description

Comedian Andrew Mayer talks about his all-time best and worst dates (both with the same woman), and a third date with her many years later. At its core, this show is a love story, but leaves plenty of room for other nonsense, including coming-of-age, the ongoing struggle against anxiety, and growing up with supportive parents.

If you want to watch an American version of Hugh Grant talking about how he met his wife, in an awkward, charming style, then this the show for you. Not the funniest show at the Fringe, but heartfelt, sincere and engaging.

Thoroughly enjoyed the show, very likeable and honest individual and found his show entertaining and worthwhile!

Loved this show. Sweet, charming and very honest. In all honesty not the funniest thing I've ever watched but loved it nonetheless. Andrew clearly loves what he does and gave some valuable and honest advice.

Being yourself onstage isn't easy to do. Andrew accomplishes it. This show felt like an invitation for me to accept myself more. I found Andrew later wanting to share one of my own happy relationship stories. He's a sweetheart.

Charming and uplifting.

I was umming and ahing about whether to come to the festival this year, having not been for a few years. Seeing that Andrew Mayer was coming over to do a show was one of the things that made me decide to come. Seeing the show totally vindicated that decision.

The show was great. Funny, silly, and lovely. ‘Have fun, be yourself’ is definitely a title that bottles the feeling of the show.

Sadly the room was far to hot, so left after 10 minutes.
My partner enjoyed the show tho x

Spent the whole hour wishing the fire alarm would go off! Nothing funny about ANYTHING he said.
In a party of 4, NONE of us found him funny and by the silence on the room, no one else did either! Would not recommend!

When Andrew Mayer started dating his parents gave him two pieces of advice:have fun and be yourself. After enjoying this uplifting fringe debut I’d add my own two instructions to anyone looking for something brilliant to watch: go and see Andrew Mayer, you won’t regret it.
In a sea of comics it can be hard to stand out but this show genuinely does with a clever mix of humour, pathos and wisdom.
Likeable and authentic, Mayer embraces his own anxiety and instead of detracting from, it enhances the show.
Rarely have I felt more comfortable watching a comedy show or less likely to look at my watch.
A stand-out performance that will stay with you long after Mayer has delivered his life-affirming, perfectly pitched finale.

This show was an exercise in living the title! I could tell Andrew was aggressively being himself in a way that was inspiring actually. There were so many laughs and the show ended on a note that I think everyone, no matter who you are, needs to hear. Bravo!

A whimsical and heart-warming stand-up show about acceptance, anxiety and finding your person. Highly recommend! A lovely pick-me-up at the Fringe.

A charming show. A lovely and sweet meander through 3 dates. If ever there was proof that we all need intimacy co-ordinators in life not just for movie production then this is it! Thank you for sharing, I hope you have a good Fringe.
