Description

BMQ present an exciting world premiere, celebrating the shared history between jazz and Scottish folk music. The first Scottish immigrants to travel to America shared their folk songs with fellow travellers, including a uniquely Scottish musical tradition known as call-and-response line-singing. This style would become a core element of jazz and pop music. It's the foundation of BMQ’s celebration of the Scottish roots of jazz, blending gospel, ceilidh, hoedown and jig in a new commission, delivered by a world-class, multi award-winning ensemble. ‘Impeccable’ (BBC Radio 3). Made in Scotland Showcase recipients 2014, 2018, 2020.
