Description

A controversial sexual harassment allegation pushes Margaret to the edge of reason. How far can she go to protect her son? How far can she go to protect herself? How far can they bend the truth? Ambiguous Proposition explores the nature of harassment in the workplace through the lens of a mother of a son accused, ultimately questioning whether a man can survive an allegation of sexual harassment in the years post #MeToo. Created by two employment lawyers, this piece of provocative new writing delves into the searing reality of equality at work. Performed by Hilary Cordery.

What an incredible production. Margaret has you hooked immediately and this cleverly told story confronts the topic of workplace harrassment from such an interesting angle. Beautifully written, engaging and thought-provoking. I did not want it to end!

Gripping and provocative, Ambiguous Proposition confronts our assumptions about harassment, bullying, truth and distortion in the context of alleged incidents in a workplace. A mother struggles to protect her son, and we wonder about her motivation. Fine writing, slick production and an emotionally charged performance bring an urgent contemporary issue centre stage. Don't miss it!

A thought provoking play which stays with you long after the curtain falls.

The powerful yet vulnerable Margaret is acted with the perfect mix of emotion and disbelief.

Really enjoyed this play. Thank you.

One of the best. Brilliant production! This one-woman show (sorry sound board person!) captures in one hour the emotional complexity of being human and young in the work place and how a everyday situation can spiral in today's cultural landscape to derail lives.

An extremely memorable show for all the best reasons. So engaging and thought-provoking. Such talented acting - the way Hilary grabs and holds the attention of the room is brilliant. The play is so well written and leaves you deep in thought. An absolute do not miss for Fringe 24!!!!!!!!

DO NOT MISS THIS! This is the most unbelievably astounding performance of a new play by an amazingly talented actor. I will be returning again and again. Don’t leave Edinburgh without seeing this!

A brilliant, brilliant show.
Superb writing, such a natural rhythm and flow to the piece.
Absolutely first class acting, funny and so so real. The characterisation was absolutely stunning, I was watching a real person up there, I felt like I got to know her in such a short amount of time, the layers of her personality were so real and authentic. Knocked my socks off. A must watch!

Captivating acting and writing. Was on tenterhooks from start to finish. Who's telling the truth? What's the motivation behind the allegations and actions taken and who can we trust when seeking support/advice?
Loved it .

Clever, sharp and a brilliant look at the challenge of navigating relationships with colleagues at work. The possibility of both misunderstanding and ambiguity is described beautifully and brutally through a legal lens
