Description
The feel-good, eight-piece band returns to Edinburgh with their award-winning show, taking its audience across America and discovering the roots of blues and soul. Words, music and a dynamic stage show tell how soul emerged: from the blues and rock'n'roll of the post-war period to the smouldering sounds of the Stax record label. Anecdotes, humour and the songs of John Lee Hooker, Otis Redding, Wilson Pickett, Buddy Guy and many more. 'Top-notch musicianship… informative and funny... highly recommended' (FringeReview.co.uk). A Mervyn Stutter Pick of the Fringe show in 2023.Please note that while all media gallery content is provided by verified members of the event, the Edinburgh Festival Fringe Society does not review or approve this content before it is posted. Absolutely fabulous show, Learned lots of blues and soul history. Great music and a very energetic performance from these guys. This has to be one of the best music shows on at the Fringe.

Stunning show, should not be missed.
These guys are no 'spring chickens' and may not be with us next year.
See them now!

What a fabulous show! Great story and toe tapping talent. Brings the music of American soul via Canvey Island well and truly to life. Highly recommended.

One of the best fringe shows I’ve seen. A fantastic hour of fun and great music, along with just the right amount of background on the original artists and producers. You’ll love it, otherwise you’ve got no soul, man.

Amazing Stories of Blues and Soul: The Road Trip (****)
A blues band of now old men, complete with a horn section, describe the background and then perform songs from ten American cities that demonstrate distinct strains of blues and soul music. Despite their age, these guys can really rock their tunes, and get the audience moving. Their little lessons about the songs’ sources is the icing on the cake that makes this a completely wonderful experience.
This is the 4th most enjoyable of the 32 shows I have seen so far at the Fringe this year. I hope to see more than 150 this year. You may see my other three-sentence reviews, in order from most enjoyable to worst, at my non-commercial website: https://fringefan.com/
