Description

The Comedy Rooms New Act of the Year 2022 and without doubt one of best musical acts currently on the northern comedy circuit is bringing his solo show to Edinburgh for the first time. A chance to meet the musician-turned-comedian who lets the songs speak for themselves. Noughties nostalgia, old-fashioned foreplay, how to break bad news with a guitar, and a ginger guy’s plea to end racism; every subject is covered with no messing about. 'Immensely promising voice with an eye both for a great joke and a great song' (Paul Sinha).

Last night, we took a spontaneous detour on our way to a late show at the Assembly. A flyer landed in our hands, and we decided, “Why not?” So we checked out Alex Camp’s show—and wow, what a wild ride! From the moment he kicked off with some hilarious crowd work, we were hooked. Then he launched into the funniest song/comedy mashup about his life, that kept us laughing the entire time. It was hands down the most fun we’ve had at the Fringe so far!

Alex's show is a must see!
He merges comedy with catchy musical hi-jinx seamlessly, you'll be laughing till drink squirts out your nose! And quite possibly singing covid baby on the way home :)

Best show I saw at the Fringe! Alex was great — fun crowd work, lots of banter, he was very at home. Highly recommended!

This is a treat of a show. Fun, upbeat, engaging; as Alex Camp is warm and enthusiastic.

Obviously a skilled musician, the tunes played are clean but with that touch of flair to show he would rip it if called to. A good range of musical genres, bringing feelings of the likes of Pearl Jam, Robert Johnson, and so much in between.

As to content, initial hints of observational comedy are soon crafted into irreverence and the odd bit of darkness. Alex easily drew in the crowd and carried us along.

This had me belly laughing throughout. Alex masterfully blends music and comedy together. His songs are thoughtful yet hilarious all at the same time. Go and check him out!

This is exactly what fringe is all about! A perfect little hour of light hearted musical silliness that had me crying with laughter throughout :)

A stumble upon show with my out of town bro. Very good fun, like the old days. Small venue, good comedy, good vibe. Worth the money we happily gifted after the show. Well done ginger Alex!

Most of the free fringe shows are shit, but honestly this was great. Right up my ally. Definitely worth seeing! Musical humor mixed with hilarious stand-up. Highly recommend! 5 stars!
