Description
Classically trained pianist and stand-up comedian Aidan Jones plays Chopin's Nocturne in Eb Major and tells stories about heartbreak, murder, MDMA etc. It's about Chopin, but really it's about us. I mean it's not, it's about Chopin, but you know - there's levels. Whatever, you get it. 'Punchlines that will leave you laughing for days on end... This is what a well-crafted comedy set looks like!' (Adelaide Advertiser). A musician and experienced comedian, before you even enter the venue, you're in safe, capable hands. And so is his piano, for that matter. Aidan gives a wonderful hour-long crash course in a Chopin classic - his Nocturne in E Flat Major (Op. 9 No. 2). A hilarious analysis full of respect and admiration for the composer who forged it back in the 19th century, this show will see you laughing and learning and may well inspire the next generation of classical pianists. It's a show that could so very easily change your life. Aidan takes you deep into every corner of Chopin's mind and leaves you at the end of his performance substantially educationally richer. Just be sure to wipe away all the tears of laughter as you skip along the pavement afterwards.

Pretty unique and quirky show I thought. Very enjoyable, Aidan puts a lot of passion into it. Great music and comedy - everyone would enjoy this.

Original, intelligent show with concert quality piano playing weaving a positive and uplifting story together. The musical explanations were masterful, showing his deep knowledge of both music and musical history; but the whole thing was totally accessible to a non-musician.
It's a relatively small room, I believe he's had full houses every night - on 12th queues started 35 mins before the show & at least 20 people were turned away - so definitely check in early

The warmest and funniest show I’ve seen at fringe this year. Somehow managed to feel both like I was at an airtight comedy show and in a friend’s living room around a piano with mates. Aidan is a pleasure to spend an hour with, highly recommend this show

Took a gamble after seeing a flier, so glad we did, incredible musical skills, belly laughing humour and thought provoking explanation, as well a fascinating peek into Aidan's life. Definitely worth an hour!

Was dragged unwillingly to the show as usually avoid comedians with instruments other than Bill Bailey, but really enjoyed it- excellent comedian, well-crafted show, hits all the feels. Thoroughly recommended!

Aidan is very funny. He explains stuff about the Chopin Nocturne and how it has impacted his own life, I was totally drawn in to his story.

A truly fantastic show. Aidan's ability to combine his pianist skills, unique storytelling, and hilarious wit and humour is unrivaled. Pianoforte feels fresh and exciting. One of my biggest recommendations at this year's fringe!

Out of the 9 shows I’ve seen so far this year, Piano Forte is my favourite. Beautiful and funny. This is the kind of show that keeps me coming back - talent, practice and flair. Just try it - you’ll love it

Went to see Aidan in the true spirit of surprise fringe. Highly recommend to visit and support this artist. Don’t want to spoil the content. But it was creative, informative, entertaining and also moving. Went to see other three paid shows and this was the best I’ve seen so far.
