Description

Meet Johnny, an 18-year-old at an all-boys boarding school. He ambles through daily life, Britney in his ears, failing to fit into the school's (rather rigid) mould. But things get exciting. Enter Harry, a charming rugby lad. To save time, Johnny and Harry shag. Constantly. This isn't a coming out story, nor a gay tragedy, and it is not porn. It is life through the lens of a young queer man, navigating Grindr, hyper-masculinity and an institution that is rife with shame.

Such good performances from two young actors! A well-executed story of self discovery. They’ve only got one show left so go see it!

This show is an absolute must watch at the fringe. Brilliant performances, brilliant writing, brilliant direction, just brilliant. It is hilarious, heartfelt and unique. Could not recommend it enough!

This really is something special! I would implore everyone and their mother to catch this show. Deeply heartfelt and candid writing with riveting performances, it's rare to find theatre of this calibre. You'll laugh, you'll cry, you'll leave wanting to stream Britney's entire discography.

Straight off the plane this was my 1st show this year and I doubt it will be topped. Amazing talent from this writer/performer combo tackling sensitive issues with understanding, comedy and serious acting. Loved the Waiting for Godot skit. This play will go further. See it now to say you did

This was the best thing we saw at Fringe this weekend. Ned, Will and the entire company should be commended for creating such a clever and moving play. The acting and writing are first class and the show is hilarious, moving and thought-provoking. Go and see it while you can! *****

This is a gem. Funny, touching and so believable. Ned (who also wrote it) portrays the strength, courage and vulnerability of his character brilliantly. Will plays a range of characters beautifully. I came away deeply moved.

Not surprised that this play is extending its run at the Fringe. It's very funny and yet has moments of pain and tenderness. The two actors are attractive and show off an impressive array of characterisations. As a former grammar school boy there was a lot that I could relate to. Get yourself down to Just the Tonic at the Caves for this one, you won't be disappointed.

Saw this today and really loved it- very funny, great performances and a really good storyline. The characters are brilliantly created and the story flows really well, with the two actors playing so many characters between them. It's very funny and also a bit heartbreaking at times, one to catch in its final few days!

Now how often does one go to see a play at the fringe - I'm a devout regular - and be instantly transported to one's childhood? Now a theatre critic, as a lad I attended weekly boarding in Kent, and I have to say, this hits the nail on the head! Five stars to Will and Ned - their performances had me belly-laughing from the get go, but perhaps with a tear behind the smile. I could not recommend this more than Adequate Abridgement enough - please go see!

This show is INCREDIBLE! It had me laughing from the start, and drew me in with the serious tones. Both of the actors are stupidly talented, with a huge shout out to Will for the multi rolling. This deserves all the greatest reviews, and you need to see it ASAP

10/10 for creativity, performance and all around well entertaining show. Both of the characters were professional and full of well produced jokes and notes which kept us all with lots of laughter. The characterisation was fantastic. We truly enjoyed this show and best way to start our fridge experience. It’s worth seeing this show and we fully recommend it as a MUST SEEN show at the Edinburgh Fringe 2024

at times funny, and at times certainly moving, but very well performed by both actors. a simple staging brought to life by very good acting. a few songs by Britney made it even better. well worth it!

T Wade 36 days ago

A beautiful coming of age story without any of that maudlin yearning or 2007 #KillYourGays drama. Just sweet, honest, schoolboy tale. Exceptional, subtle character work and brilliant use of the space

Erin Walfisz 36 days ago

Such a well crafted show! Walford’s transitions between characters was effortless and the writing and performance by Ned Blackburn was so well crafted and nuanced. The relationship and dynamic between the two was wonderful. Thoroughly enjoyable!
