Description

In 2012, two girls stabbed their friend 19 times at Slenderman’s instruction. This play is loosely inspired by these real events. Evie and her friends are obsessed with the video-game world of The King. As reality and gameplay blurs, how far will they go to save themselves from each other? This show explores how we teach young girls to grow up and who we should really be afraid of. Its sold-out London reading was described by audiences as 'truly gripping,' 'a beautiful balance of light and dark,' and 'as strong as (it was) understated.'

Good god what a piece of theatre. At its centre is 1 purely excellent piece of staging followed by 2 unbelievable monologues, throughout which I don't think I took a single breath. Truly excellent and I haven't stopped thinking about it in days

Love a late night spookie at the fringe & 4 Girls the 1st Letter E delivers! Inspired by the Slenderman, incredible cast performances combined with slick sound and visuals really draw you in.

Dark disturbing and yet ultimately moving. The writing, staging and acting are of the highest level. A real stand out show thoroughly enjoyed by the audience.

Incredible show, creepy atmosphere and a gut wrenching conclusion made all the more horrifying by the fact it's wonderfully acted and inspired by a real case

Loved it so much I saw it twice! Brilliant performances, especially from Zoe Bourdin and Louis Hill. I really hope this play goes on to have a further life somewhere.

Wasn’t sure what to expect going in but am so glad we went. Simple set up but with some powerful monologues from the actors, really engrossing. Would recommend!

Wow, one of my favourite shows of the fringe, would go back if I had time.
Hope they get the credit the team deserves.

This show is beyond gorgeous and unique. A powerful cast with brilliant writing and direction. A psychological thriller is crafted and brought to life on stage, and it’s unlike anything I’ve ever seen. Run to see this show, it will be time well spent!

I was told this show was about 'girlhood' but it's about a lot more than that. It explores the dynamics between four young teens obssessed by a video game they play without their parents knowledge. It conjures a realistic portrait of the little cruelties, secrets and jostling for power that characterise some young friendships but it also creates a chilling sense of foreboding as the girls try to progress in a game where winning involves becoming ever closer to a scary and patriarchal figure who is always watching them. The acting is great, at times phenomenal (shout outs to Zoe Bourdin and Louis Hill). The writing is deceptively simple but truly powerful, never going quite where you think it will. I saw this two nights ago and it still resonates. See it before it's sold out!

I’ve never really watched any theatre - came up to fringe to visit friends and thought I’d see a few shows. Expectations were ignorantly low but after being moved to tears by the sensational acting in this show - I was proven embarrassingly wrong. This is a must see. Acting was again phenomenal. I also got to talk with the writer and director after the show - not only were they friendly, they listened to my incessant rambling about how mesmerised I was and also embraced my own interpretations on the piece. This show alone has introduced me to a whole new genre of entertainment that I was once moronically naive to. It’s simply incredible. Did I also mention that acting is sensational?

Truly an incredible show with a great balance between humour, cheerful moments and heart wrenching scenes. I loved their use of animation and projection, it really made me feel so immersed in the game they were playing.

The final scene broke my heart, haunted me for days and will linger with me long after the whole Fringe is over.

a lot of thought has gone into the toughness. And there’s some beauty in there too.

This takes a lot of risks; it’s patiently paced so that the darkness creeps slowly around the edges.
