This was by far the worst show this long weekend. The first venue was noisy and the 'reading' lacklustre. After some well known facts about authors who had visited Edinburgh. We were subjected to 10 minutes of self promotion about his other projects and his boring rise to present status. This was followed by a pretend pub quiz to give us all beer mats presumably to show we had actually paid money for this read out lacklustre material. We left before getting to the next pub. A lucky escape!

“Nick's tour was so much fun! If you are at the Fringe this year, I'd say it's a must-do.”

We had a great time. We gathered from the title this wasn’t going to be a dry, straight up guide to Scottish Literature and so it proved. Nick obviously loves the city, literature and pubs and is a great host. We wish it could have gone on longer.

Disappointing event. Nick is an entertaining figure who clearly has significant background in the London literary scene but talking about Edinburgh's huge literary background primarily in terms of English/Welsh visitors to Edinburgh was condescending. Also, reading his script off an i-pad gave the impression of a lack of preparation or care about the production. Would instead recommend one of the other excellent locally-based literary tours (btw, I don't run a competing tour).

Wonderful stroll through the Old Town guided by the inimitable Nick Hennegan as he shared literary stories in and in front of various notable pubs. A jolly time was had by all.
