Description

13th Morning comes, naturally, after the Twelfth Night. Sebastian and Olivia are married after she had been in love initially with Viola. Is it bad that she can't stop thinking about her husband's sister? Meanwhile, Antonio returns from his trips across the sea to share with Sebastian this new thing called "being gay"! They recall a time when they might have been just that. And Malvolio is still trying to figure out a way to seek his revenge, but all he's managed to do is learn to play shitty acoustic covers of Oasis songs. Or just one.

Such a fun performance continuing one of Shakespeare‘s best comedies in a worthy manner. The couple‘s happy end, is questioned and its heteronormativity ridiculed in this excellent comedy. May the crossdressing and disguise continue!

This show did amazing things with a tiny (miniscule) stage area - the use of the screens and rails was beautiful and evocative, and worked brilliantly to create a sense of movement in the plot & location. Though all actors were great, Sebastian stands out for sheer stage presence.
I loved the gay theme and liked the plot as a whole, but as the play went on and situations got weirder, I felt more distanced from the characters. Svetlana the puppet just about fit in, but being inside the mouth of a whale just didn't work for me. Malvolio's character lacked direction - while everyone else's motivations were clear, I was never particularly sure of what Malvolio wanted, and his emotions didn't ring true for me.
Most importantly - if you don't have tiered seating, *please keep standing*. It felt like at every poignant moment the actors would sit on the floor, which meant that for all of the audience members not in the front row, the production became a radio play. I'm sure these moments were acted beautifully, but it was incredibly frustrating not being able to see them.
Overall, a great show and a memorable experience.

Gloriously funny, surprisingly deep and innovatively presented, 13th morning was an absolute treat that made an hour fly by! Sadly I saw its last day so I'll have to wait another year to hopefully see it again!

Aged 16, I saw my first production of Twelfth Night over half a century ago. I saw it six times falling in love with all of the characters. This evening I saw 13th Morning for the first time and fell in love with all of the characters again. 13th Morning is enchanting, romantic, screwball and moving...the writing by BT Hayes providing a delightful 21st Century sequel to Twelfth Night.
If you can...go and see this play...I know I am going to see it again tomorrow... I am convinced that the great man himself would be laughing clapping and stomping his feet.

Saw this sold out show tonight after booking on a whim and pleased I did. It is brilliant - very witty, well done, and Shakespeare would surely be proud. Tsvetelina stole the show for me but the rest of the cast were good too ;-)

I had seen some of author and actor BT Hayes's high quality work in the past, so I went expecting a strong show -- but this small, tightly acted show was an astonishing thrill. It starts off with a good-natured spoof of the complicated plots of tangled affection and confusing disguise which Shakespeare loved. Working with the most simple staging in a tiny performance space, the actors immediately capture the audience's attention and affection, each adding their unique but complementary styles to the mix. As the performance progresses, the complexities increase, leading to laugh-out-loud moments of humorous confusion until everything is resolved in a satisfying burst of delightful absurdity.
At the end of the performance the audience (and I) burst into uproarious applause. DO NOT MISS THIS SHOW!

This was a wonderful show! Smart, funny, well acted, knowing in its Shakespeare sources but so contemporary. One can imagine that the bard would have approved!

The perfect fringe show! A hilarious, irreverent imagining of "the morning after Twelfth Night", with plenty of queerness, puppetry and knowing nods mixed in. Completely sold out when I saw it, so I recommend you snap up a ticket while you still can

This was such a fun start to my first Fringe! From the smart mix of Shakespeare and modern adaptation, to the ways in which the cast interacted, it was a joy and I wish it could have gone on for longer!

A wonderfully hilarious show with touching moments that look directly into the human psyche. I laughed, I cried. Their use of the space the the physicality of the performers was next level, if you have the time, a must see!

Hilarious show with wonderful acting and exceptional use of the very limited space. Shakespeare’s characters feel familiar and simultaneously completely fresh. This lovely lgbtq+ narrative touches on the nuance of sexuality and the challenges of accepting your sexuality while maintaining a light hearted air from beginning to end. Well done to the whole team.

An extremely well written show! The timing and physicality was perfect and the cast was hilarious. Was lucky enough to see their first Fringe performance on 12 Aug. This is not a show to miss!

Got to see the premier tonight but you wouldn't know it was their first show. Truly excellent script and cast, frequently laugh out loud funny, and a lot of the humor/plot felt very much in line with Shakespeare's work.Anachronisms added to the humor without feeling forced and they made amazing use of a very minimalist set. Didn't know quite what to expect but really loved the whole thing, don't sleep on this one.
