10th Annual Hater's Ball (Hate N Live)

Brilliant show. Absolutely hilarious. Nothing is sacred. Could not recommend highly enough

As noted in the show description above: the Hater’s Ball is an 18+ show, where comedians hate on topics suggested by the audience. There is a trigger warning given at the start of the show once again reiterating that point, and given the audience an opportunity to leave.

The show is also not billed as free show but is actually £10, again this is stated at the beginning of the show, with an opportunity given for the audience to leave if they don’t want to pay. Despite both of these warning you decided to stay for the ENTIRE show.

Furthermore it was noted you high-fived the very comedian when they came off stage who did the bit you are complaining about. Additionally, that bit came approximately 20 minutes into the show – you hadn’t bought a ticket so could have left there and then, but chose to stay for the ENTIRE show.

We covered a variety of topics during the show including: white men, politicians, dating, England, the Edinburgh Fringe, drugs amongst others. We had a diverse line up including one of South Africa’s biggest female comedians, who grew up under Apartheid and will be headlining the show on Saturday night.

For the record the only racism that occurred that night was from yourself, when you referred to me as a “white bastard”, only to be corrected and informed that I’m actually Iranian..

The reality of the situation is you stayed for entire show, and didn’t want to pay, despite being given content warnings and offered various opportunities to leave.

Apparently according to the Haters Ball hating Black people and wanting to bring back slavery is something to be Praised! There is a fine line between freedom of speech and incitement to racial hatred and the content felt like that line had been crossed. Being an Iranian Host and having a Black South African comedian on stage does not give you the green light to insult people because of the colour of their skin. Recent racial attacks on migrants and those who are non white attest to the dangers of racist abuse. Pandering to racial hatred leads to racists acts, which should never be tolerated, in any form. And being abused and coerced on leaving the ‘show’ to pay, when being duped into attending a ‘free’ show is not only offensive, but reprehensible. Deeply unpleasant, offensive, racist and not funny!




For the record, high fiving a racist is never a choice for a Black person who has to endure racism on a daily basis. Racist, so called 'jokes' became intolerable in the UK in the 90's. Attempting to make them legitimate now is a dangerous move towards the far right which thankfully large swaves of white people in the UK are acting to prevent. Racism from white people is the poison that I stood up against. As well as an Asian member of the audience being referred to as being from ISIS. And you also attempting to prevent me from leaving the 'show', following me outside the door and calling me a 'Black Bitch'. As a Black person I am part of a long tradition which has led to racial harmony and tolerance in Britain. You selected and gave a platform to hating Black people. With your so called comedian, wanting to bring back slavery. Making reference to the comments not being racist because you have a Black women on stage. Is like saying 'I'm not racist, some of my best friends are Black'. Visable minorities in the UK are attacked and murdered because of racism and tolerance for racist views and abuse. Don't incite racial hatred, as an Iranian, work to fight against it. There are Iranian groups in the UK that I work with to end racism. Be part of the fight.

Very funny show. There are some difficult topics comedians have to hate on and they do a really good job. Host is amazing as well. After the show I decided to look up couple of comedians and attend their own shows. I would definitely recommend visiting this one if you want to laugh.
