Description

In 1916, Christabel Mennell writes a letter of apology to Katie Marsh. It is finally delivered in 2021 and becomes a global news sensation. Travelling from Bath to London, via two world wars and two pandemics, the unreceived letter of apology sparked people’s imaginations, opening up a fascinating mystery: what was the apology for? Who were the women writing to one another? What became of them? After a year of speculation and research, Good Wolf peels back the layers of time to reveal a funny, moving story of history, war, faith, friendship and porridge oats.

Great story performed by 4 actors. Highly entertaining and also a history lesson. I loved this. Go and see it !

It’s an interesting premise, but the show was a bit slow and hard to see or hear from the back of the room. Very hot.
Those with an interest in social history may enjoy.

Lovely building and friendly staff.
Great performance and acting HOWEVER the entire show is let down by the crammed uncomfortable seating and unbearable heat.
I dressed appropriately and am relatively healthy and fit but struggled to stay comfortable and didn't want to leave and spoil for others.
Was so looking forward to this performance but wouldn't advise for anyone unless they halved the number of audience members.
Be prepared to be very hot and uncomfortable with restricted view if not in front row.
Such a shame as it really is a great show.
Deserves to be performed in a much larger and more comfortable setting.

Unfortunately the venue let this show down. We couldn’t see anything and were distracted by latecomers towards the start of the show which then made it difficult to follow along with the story. An interesting subject matter though and I am sure this would have been more enjoyable at a different venue.

Thoroughly enjoyed this show! With just four outstanding performers the story of the 100 year old letter had obviously been well researched and so well written. This show deserves a much bigger audience. What next, I wonder.

100 year old letter - 100% recommended

The story was engrossing, the characters entertaining and the hour just whizzed by - what a brilliant start to my fringe.

The small cast each took on several characters and actors were talented and natural so that it felt like I was listening in on a fascinating conversation (I dislike being acted "at").

The script included contextual info - which was really helpful for someone like me who didn't pay attention in school history classes... These bits were done in such a delightfully un-patronising way - I'd have paid more attention in school with this kind of story telling.

What a joy to watch. Thank you!

Excellent show put on by a very talented group. Fascinating story, clever writing, can see why it's sold out!

Loved this piece and how it explored such an intriguing story in a way that celebrated the joy that can be shared in being curious and asking ‘what if?’ …not only do the brilliant cast take us on a journey of speculation, we learn the known facts of the matter too- about the letter, the world in which it was written and recieve and the community that the people involved were part of. It’s sold out so lucky you if you have a ticket!
