Description

Will Penswick is Pætur Pætursson: a brooding, troubled detective and a semi-legendary DJ from the Faroe Islands who is going toe-to-toe with Scandinavia's most dangerous criminals and he needs your help. Expect jumpers, drinking problems, an accent and a decent understanding of Faroese fishing regulations. Move over Nordic Noir, there's a new detective in town. 'Netflix-special-worthy' ***** (Audience review on StagedoorApp.com). 'Hard not to love... brilliant' **** (Radio Ha-Ha). **** (PlaysToSee.com). **** (BroadwayBaby.com).

This was really top class character comedy, a lot of our group said it was the best thing they'd seen at the Fringe this year. Paetur is very well imagined and the show is innovative, fun and has exceptional attention to detail. The audience participation is very enjoyable- Will looks after those on stage and makes them feel welcome.

Can't recommend it enough, I look forward to what he does next.

Fun solving the murder with plenty of laughs on the way

My only review so far. This guy was great and deserved a much bigger audience. Concept and jokes were funny and able to think on his feet. He will do well. Glad I saw him now.

I love this show!

Come and be transported to the Faroe Islands for this well constructed character led comedy. The venue just adds to the ambience.

I really liked Will’s take on audience participation. Gently encouraging without any of the humiliation, and so fun rather than scary and still very funny.

He deserves to be sold out so go and see it!

In Just the Tonic at the caves, you’ll find yourself transported to the Faroe Islands in the company of suave (he would like to think), mysterious Detective (and also a DJ - just roll with it) Pætur Pætursson. Will Penswick pulls off the accent brilliantly, and the quips and facial expressions throughout will have you laughing both with him and at him at times. One of my favourite comedy shows at the fringe right now.

A thoroughly enjoyable show- was sad to see it end. The writing and production were really well crafted . You won't be disappointed

Saw Will at the late show last night. It was great fun, full of laughs and even with lots of (slightly inebriated) audience participation he managed the interaction well to keep us included while steering the story to include shootings, sushi and a disco. Excellent. I would highly recommend this show.

The essence of makes Fringe special - a vaulted, hidden venue converted for performance, immediately helping Paetur, your (soon to be) favourite detective create a lonely, low key Scandinoir experience you'll still smile about days later.

Having finished my Fringe adventures, catching many shows of all shapes and sizes, I have found its very easy for performers to derail their shows with too much audience participation but Will/Paetur shepherds his participants with a kindness and expertise that does elevate the show. Nordic(k)'s hour zips past and you will emerge bleary eyed back to the street afterward pining for a little more time in Torshavn

Excellent show! Deserves bigger audiences than when I saw it. Great fun and don't fret about audience participation, he doesn't bite! If you like Scandi noir this definitely worth checking out.

The gull pals and I loved this show, playing out below us whilst we circled for scraps (scraps hard to come by since Erick's business picked up), but in fact there was a feast. A feast of talent, previously unknown, from those who flocked with me to the show. For they were the audience participants pecked for their inner improv chips, and brought out by such amazing writing and performance.
I wish I was pecked, but I am just a seagull.
I would highly recommend this show, fun for everyone, tickets going cheep.

Loved the Scandawegian mispronunciations. The Torshavn police solve a mystery in style. Funny noir! Highly recommended.

This show was such fun. Very clever and full of laughs. It totally exceeded my expectations. You just have to see it for yourself. Such value for money. A great production all round.

This show is the essence of the Fringe! Simple concept but well executed. Bizarre comedy with just the right amount of audience participation & riffing off the audience (And totally random venue). Get the feeling it is a totally different experience every show. Really recommend!

It may be a trite metaphor when applied to a seafaring culture, but you could be forgiven for assuming the boat had sailed when it came to the comedic potential of Scandinavian Noir.  It’s been a full decade since The Killing grabbed the attention of the BBC4 crowd prompting an endless stream...
