Description
Captain Macbeth is Vice-President. He and Lady Macbeth want more. Standing in their way are three all-knowing newsreaders, President Duncan, press secretary Macduff, Hecate the diva queen of all media, and Macbeth’s dashing comrade, Banquo. In this tale of ambition, guilt, murder, power, vengeance, and press manipulation, with an original pop-musical-theatre score, it’s up to you to decide if they get their way. Last year’s sold-out five-star hit returns! It’s just like Shakespeare, but with more key changes. Excellent show. Fantastic performance. Highly recommended. As it's a musical, it would help if they toned down the volume of the background music so the audience can catch all the words being sung.

Really enjoyable performance. Excellent writing and music. Well done again Clydebuilt Theatre Company!

A brilliantly written musical! Definitely deserves to be performed on a bigger stage, with an orchestra. The show we went to (7/8) was marred by audio issues, but that might very well have been improved by now.

Highly recommend Vote Macbeth! for an hour of great singing and witty performances from a very talented cast. Excellent production quality and don’t be surprised if you leave humming a couple of the tunes on the way home!

Our highlight of the Fringe so far! Excellent, clever songs and great performances. Whatever sound issues plagued a previous reviewer appeared to have been resolved. This is definitely "based on" Macbeth, rather than a faithful rendition, but no weaker for that. Don't expect the "voting" part to have a big impact - this isn't an improv show - but it does fit the setting of the show well. The one issue is that some of the performers were clearly beginning to lose their voices, which is a shame. 4.5 stars, would definitely recommend.

Fun premise telling Macbeth from a political perspective with a vote at the end. The songs were quite good but the lighting wasn't great and there's some odd directing choices (the murders are side lined and happened off stage, Lady Macbeth was nothing like she is usually portrayed etc). However, the sound mix was really bad for our performance, lyrics either too quiet you couldn't hear them or so loud it was physically painful. Several audience members had hands over their ears. We had to leave halfway in genuine fear for our hearing. A shame as we would have liked to see where it was going.

Great songs and great singing, all done with panache and a real sense of humor. Amazingly high quality for a show in such a tiny venue. We saw the preview and there were a few audio gremlins and the vocals could have been higher in the mix at times, but I'm sure that'll be fixed. A treat!
